** THE ASUS ZEN INTEL ULTRABOOK ARRIVES AT OCUK! **

Nice but I think it seem overpriced thought for laptop! Would buy it if it was £499.99

No regular full sized laptops with an I5, 128GB SSD, 4GB of RAM, Windows 7 HP sell for £499.99.

Are you just here to troll bulldog?

Seriously Asus have clearly mimicked the design/specification of the Apple equivalent which cost considerably more and does not perform as well and is missing USB3.0. Asus adhere to the 'Ultrabook' specification perfectly.
Just look at the link that rjkoneill pointed out earlier HERE
this is the future of portable computing, which at this price is incredible

For the speification, design, lightness it is well worth its price tag because there is nothing else of this size, thinness and weight for less money with this specification. Asus have done a good job. :)

I couldnt agree more! This is a machined lump of aluminium just like the apple and the finish is sublime! You pay £3000+ for huigh end gaming laptops where the build quality is left in shame when compared to this.

Hi there

An Macbook Air with same specification and extras cost £1049.00 on Apple direct.

This is the advantages of:-
SATA3 SSD (Faster)
USB3.0
Windows 7 (Yes some people do prefer Windows)
£150 less!!!

Its only weakness against the Apple is the use of a TN panel versus IPS which is unfortunate.

But in fairness this is a well priced and very high performance piece of kit. :)

I could go and buy a 13" MBA with a faster CPU, higher res screen, better trackpad, backlit keyboard and thunderbolt for £40 more.

Granted the SSD is a bit slower and it doesn't have USB3.0, but I don't think what you've said is a fair representation.

And everything I mentioned above?

Premium products = premium prices, like the MBA it competes with. The price is fine.

Yeah it true that we prefer Windows than Mac/Linux. I didnt know it had SSD on it with 450Mb/s and USB 3.0. I should have read it first. But one missing out is: no DVD Blu-Ray ?

Looks really good!
Nice price too. When I was first scrolling down, I thought it might be some terrible performing cpu, but i5 2467M in a 1kg 11.6" notebook is great! Matched with a 128GB SSD and having great battery life, it does seem like a winner.

Is that with a student discount?

And the CD/DVD/BD drive issue can be solved with an external drive.

I love the look of this.

Er, looking at it yeah. I've got mine set to go straight to the HE site.

Saying that I've never needed ID/proof that I'm a student of any kind when ordering from there so you'd be silly not to use it :p

There's no need for optical drives in these, you can pick up a portable one cheap enough if you really need it. Nicest portable I've seen in a while next to the Macs.

Yeah, I only ever ordered one big thing (MBA for a friend) but it worked fine.

I've just gone all the way through to putting my card details in and it hasn't asked for any verfication that I'm a student (I am, but still).

Oh god I wasn't expecting OcUK to stock ultrabooks! Been looking foward to this, looks like a great competitor against the MBA! Honestly I'd prefer this over the Air, I don't like using OSX and bootcamp will just waste some HD space.

Sadly I already have a laptop so I have no reason to buy one... yet ;)
