Windows 7 64 here, but know others who are on 8/8.1 and have the same issues.

From fairly limited experience it seems Windows 8 gives a bit of a boost to those on 4 core or less CPUs, its definitely a little smoother, but nothing as significant for those on 8 core/4+HT CPUs. I'm guessing it handles multi-threading a little more effectively if your CPU is close to maxed out.

I'm using Windows 8 and BF4 was a stutter fest and frame rate drops under mantle, wasn't so great under DX. Went with the official drivers and all was smooth.

Ignoring any rubber server banding :p

Win 8.1, cores unparked and everything.

Its just the game, has had a sluggish feel to it from the start.
It does feel very sluggish, particularly when you compare it to bf3. It is extremely smooth running. Ive been pondering a move to win 8.1 for a while now. But for just one game it doesnt seem like it's worth it at times. Cpu wise, im seeing upto 94% max, averaging 65% 0no, 4770k with ht on. Pretty similair to what i got in bf3 with this chip, and a previous 4.5ghz 3770k.

When I'm trying to play seriously (lol) I drop lighting, post processing, effects to low and turn off MSAA as that seems to add a certain sluggishness to the game for some reason and just use FXAA, leaving the rest of the settings on ultra except terrain decoration. That way I can hold an almost constant capped 125fps (reduces visible tearing with vsync off at 120Hz) and the game feels relatively smooth and still looks fairly good aside from the blocky lighting in places.

Already do that and just up resolution scaler to 130%

Meh, I've just loaded up the single player to test out this widescreen fix which is legit and my campaign keeps loading from the start. It says I'm near the end via battlelog, but every time I start from the very beginning in that car ffs

Had an amusing one earlier - hovering over an objective in the transport heli with about 5 guys rushing straight at me - lit em up with the minigun (should have known better by now) - not a single kill barely seemed to land a shot, noticed there was an LAV right below so hot swapped and killed them all with canister shell stupid quickly :| they seriously need to sort the game out.

Killed a heli with 2 m320 shots earlier, that made me smile :)

Slowly getting up ranks, 20 now, usually hit top end of scoreboard.

Need to add most people in the thread, would prefer some more focused games as per BF3 times. I'm PaulyDuk on origin if want to add

Got China Rising over the weekend thanks to EA "tempting" me with a 30% off deal. For just over £8, I thought why not? Best thing ever! Love the new maps! Silk Road is awesome and Guilin Peaks rocks when doing Domination! :D

I really would like to play with some of you guys sometime. So please feel free to add me on Origin under CK61938. I even have OcUK as my tag so you can't miss me! :)

Also, I have to admit *touch wood* not had a single crash in over 2 weeks. But I put this down to having to lower my CPU from 4GHz to 3.8GHz. I'm still running an i7 920 D0. I have had it since 2009!! ;)

Game runs very smooth for me and I have a 7970 just running in stock. So I can't complain!

Anyway, hope to see some of you tonight for a game or two! :D
