Anything that hooks memory space or intercepts/injects calls to the rendering API can get you PB banned. Usually what happens is PB notices this behaviour and reports back and all similiar behaviour gets logged under one ticket number and when theres enough instances someone looks at it to see if its a cheat in action - stuff like SweetFX will usually get whitelisted unless theres concerns it gives an unfair advantage. It can be a bit messy though sometimes preliminary bans will get actioned that later get overturned.

AFAIK theres never been any upheld bans for SweetFX but it is potentially taking a chance using any 3rd party program that changes the game behaviour beyond keybinds and general settings.
 
I very rarely use it! dedicated 5.1 speaker setup better for positional audio :p


And yup, TS was full last night! :eek: Even though it is rather distracting, it is good fun, much like the chatbox :D

AFAIK, sweetfx doesn't inject into the game client but into the dirextx run time settings.

At worse, you will only get kicked, if DICE/EA/PB decided to ban anyone using that, they would be banning hundreds of players so lots of people would be annoyed.

What is done via sweetfx can be achived through ATI/nvidia and monitor controls/settings.

The thing that DICE/EA were getting worked up about was that colour tweaker for bf 3 where you could completely eliminate the sun brightness intensity, scope glint etc.

ATM the only game that seems to ban for any colour adjustment stuff like sweetfx is PS 2.

The main reason people use sweetfx isn't for colours etc. but for the SMAA etc. since BF AA is a huge performance hit and causes input lag.
