The Best Film of 2007 is....?

I didn't see it at the cinema, just tv screen. I don't mind swearing myself though. It doesn't really register as a bad thing.

I saw it on DVD too. Its not the swearing that bothered me as when done at the right time it can be really funny. My issue is the script/guy tries to hard to use swearing to be funny when most of the time (IMHO) It was too much. A little less would have been better. I also didn't like how he over reacted to everything.

I disagree...I thought transformers was an excellent film. After The Bourne Ultimatum I would vote for Transformers for second place!

Not enough actual transformers, lame human characters, and I even saw it at the Imax.

Guess the fact that I am a huge fan of the cartoon and comic books means I thought little of the this movie.

[1] The Last King of Scotland.
Stunning film. Everything about it is brilliant executed. Cinematography and sound are fantastic, and the performances are perfect. Forrest Whitaker was absolutely terrifying on the big screen. I dont think it can win anything this year though?

[2] The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
If you're judging films on performances then look no further. Casey Affleck should get an Oscar for his portrayal of Bob Ford. Brad Pitt wasnt bad either! It's another film that is beautifully shot, and although the pace is slow you are never bored. The drama and tension is always there when Jesse James is in the room, and the gritty realism really puts you in their world.

[3] The Counterfeiters
A truly interesting story with a different perspective of the Holocaust. The performances are spot-on, it's fast-paced, shocking and dramatic. What more could you want?

The Fountain has been the only film I've wanted to see on opening night and I absolutely loved it. A feast for the eyes. I also really enjoyed Smokin' Aces, 300 and Hot Fuzz but they won't win awards.

Babel was the worst film I've seen all year, and probably all my life (for reasons I've made clear all around the web)

All in all, the films I enjoyed the most were: The Fountain and Blood Diamond. Not a great year for films, although I am missing out on quite a few, I'm looking forward to I Am Legend before the year is out too. :)

Lives of Others?

I agree fantastic film.

Also really enjoyed.

The Pursuit of Hapyness (Will Smith proves he doesn't have to be a clown anymore.)
Last King of Scotland
Freedom Writers
The Illusionist
Reign Over Me (Sandler can act!)
Sunshine
Transformers
The Upside of Anger
Black Snake Moan
Zodiac
Vacancy (Yay, a non formulaic suppense thriller thingy)
Die Hard 4.0
1408
Run Fat Boy Run
Control
Mr Brooks (probably one of my faves)
Stardust
Death at a Funeral
American Gangster

I've actually enjoyed quite a lot going through the list of releases this year. Nothing is stand out amazing, would probably say the best were Control and Other Peoples Lives.
