Couldntfind if there was a thread on this already. Spin off from the Mando series. Hope Kathleen Kennedy has nothing to do with it.

Jon Favreu pitched it to Kathleen Kennedy.

I'm not saying she's great or anything, certainly the star wars sequels were mostly poor but literally we wouldn't have the Mandalorian without her ok-ing it in the first place.

Yes, she is CEO of Lucasfilm after all but my point was when she had a lot of creative input it was a disaster and the sequels was a testimony to that. She has no understanding of SW ethos not does she care about legacy or the fanbase. All she cares about is how it promotes her and make money. I am not saying that's any different from any other executive but she doesn't come across as competent and did a lot of damage to the franchise. Certainly not the safe hands she promised when George sold out.

My biggest criticism is trying to kill off all the old characters for no obvious reason other than replace SW with her vision of whatever she thinks is SW.

What has saved SW is original SW material.

I can understand the desire from a business sense, the OT fan base is aging as are the OT actors so using the ST to introduce a "new" set of characters for "new" fans (hoping to mirror the success of the OT) does make sense.

However the way this happened was utterly crap, ruining the ST's ability to create as many "new" fans as the OT films did.

I'm hoping that LucasFilm decides that it's best to bury the Skywalker side of SW now, leaving it alone and instead concentrates on the EU such as Mandalorian/Fett/KOTOR etc.

I have no doubt that the show is going to be great, but the biggest question I have is this - will it still be named Slave I?

I had to chuckle the other day to see slave implants in Eve Online (increases a ship's armour) had been renamed amulet. Though not sure why they were named slave in the first place to be fair as it doesn't really fit the part they play - other than supposedly increasing the pilot's interface with the ship systems.

Not sure how I feel about this. I knew it was coming and I enjoyed The Mandalorian but probably only because of Baby Yoda (I admit to having received one for crimbo). After all the business with Gina Carano and the comments from Pedro Pascal I am off the whole Star Wars thing. Hopefully this will be good and restore my interest.
