The fourth Bourne film sees Jeremy Renner take over the lead role from previous star Matt Damon.

The movie also stars Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Oscar Isaac, Joan Allen, Albert Finney, Stacy Keach and Scott Glenn.

The espionage thriller features the Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol star as Aaron Cross, an agent from a covert government programme similar to the Treadstone facility that trained Damon's Jason Bourne.

Renner replaced Damon after the actor pulled out of Tony Gilroy's movie sequel, although Damon has since said that he expects to return to the franchise in the future.

The Bourne Legacy will open on August 3 in US cinemas and on August 17 in the UK.

Surprised there's been no thread for this, initially I thought Renner might work well in this film but I'm really not sure about the rest of the cast (Norton and Weisz especially)

Still will be interesting to see what the end product is like and whether the franchise goes downhill without Damon

I heard about this a while ago, and I'm a bit miffed. I'm moderately happy that this will be an entertaining movie, but why it is called 'the Bourne Legacy' is nothing more than a major cash in on a brilliant trilogy. I know it's set in the same universe, but if it doesn't have Jason Bourne in it, then I think it's a bad idea. Why not just create a new universe, and begin another great trilogy?

Still, I'm sure this is falling on deaf ears, as I'm sure I'll go and see it. :p

Isn't there more Bourne books?

I only the first three books (I think) might be getting confused.

Will no doubt be a good movie, shame Matt Damon didn't do it though.

Was thinking this

Renner is fantastic, but it would have been awesome to get Damon back in the picture.

Funny how many hardmen in films/tv are 'JB'

Jack Bauer
Jason Bourne
James Bond
jChuck bNorris :p

I must be the only bloke who thinks the Bourne films are totally overrated. By the end of the last one i realized the whole thing was a waste of time and the whole thing could have been squeezed into one movie, the whole revile was a Major anti-climax for me

Have high hopes for this film, think Renner will probably do a decent job.

Wonder, if it's successful, if there will be a film with both of them in the future.

Damon's too old for this kind of stuff now. This isn't Bond where you can be 55 years old and still get by with your suave fencing technique.

You're in the minority.

Fantastic trilogy of films.

It's not a cash in. Bourne will probably return in a further installment.

Fantastic trilogy of films.

Exactly, he is also not in the minority, there was someone else further up the page that wants to avoid it.

Do people watch the Bourne films and think they are going to be some kind of deep 'Shawshank Redemption' type film, or do they switch their heads of and watch a good action trilogy?

:)
