The Bourne Legacy

Surprised there's been no thread for this, initially I thought Renner might work well in this film but I'm really not sure about the rest of the cast (Norton and Weisz especially)

Still will be interesting to see what the end product is like and whether the franchise goes downhill without Damon
Why would you be excited by a film that isnt based on a Ludlum book? The Lustbader Bourne books out there are a sham. That wouldnt at all make a particularly bad movie, but then not to have Matt Damon in there either... well, doesnt seem to make the same great recipe...

Probably be Bournes Phantom Menace...

ps3ud0

^Originally, Damon did say if it had the same director, he'd be up for being in any follow on films

Exactly, he is also not in the minority, there was someone else further up the page that wants to avoid it.

Do people watch the Bourne films and think they are going to be some kind of deep 'Shawshank Redemption' type film, or do they switch their heads of and watch a good action trilogy?

:)

19 different posters. 2 that 'disliked the films' or whatever. That is a minority.

No, it has some good action sequances when the camera could be bothered to keep still for more then 2 seconds, but in rectrospect it really wasn't that great, story or plot wise, that's what makes things rewatchable. Taken was far better movie overall

He said after the second he wouldn't be interested in carrying on if it became a cash cow, fair play to MD if he's stuck to his guns and that's why he's not involved.

Apparently they are garbage as well, the Lustbader ones I mean.

Coincidently I finally got round to reading The Bourne Legacy by Lustbader a couple of weeks ago, it's been sat on my un-read pile for about six years, for what it was it ended up being a very entertaining read.

Although the original point was that robgmun thought he was the only bloke to find them overrated which seems unlikely unless The Running Man isn't a bloke...

I'm slightly disappointed to find that they're revisiting the Bourne universe, while I don't think the films were quite the work of genius that many hold them to be they were pretty decent and from what I recall finished on a natural closure point. If, however, it's not involving Bourne or indeed (m)any of the previous characters from the Bourne Trilogy then why use the name except as a cheap cash in? By all means make an action film but there's no need to use the name unless it's for that reason, it's just tagging on to an existing franchise despite having very little apparently to do with it.

No, but change of director and main actor not in it is a pretty major thing to criticise.

I hope this is good but the signs are not good so far.

Damon's too old for this kind of stuff now. This isn't Bond where you can be 55 years old and still get by with your suave fencing technique.

Damon is 41, isn't that around the age of Jason Bourne?

If Damon goes, I don't see him coming back.

Don't mind replacing him though.

I read this the other day http://www.contactmusic.com/news/matt-damon-bourne-ultimatum-could-have-ended-career_1275585

Doesn't inspire much hope but I think Renner is a good actor and it does have some of the original cast members. Joan Allen being one of them and her character can bring a fairly large part of continuity.

It's odd, nowadays I don't look at the actors/actresses as much as directors due to seeing many films with fantastic actors let down by poor direction.

Hopefully it will be good though, I think the first three, when watched back to back are fantastic. The second two don't stand as well on their own but are a very good continuation. The last time I watched them all was back to back and they went much higher on my favourite movies list as I could remember everything and picked up a lot of details I had previously missed watching them seperately.

Mr Krugga...fair enough. It's just when I watched Contagion I remember thinking he was fairly fat now and couldn't pass off someone as badass as Jason Bourne. However I know he'd have a team of people dedicated to making sure he was super buff again.

I meant he's not in the minority in thinking that

Yes he is though. Facepalm.
