I remember this film getting pretty negative reviews back in the day..

Back when I first saw it I was young and had not long seen Jim Carrey in other random stuff, so I remember expecting more slapstic kinda comedy.

I think I missed the darkness to it all.

Im watching it now, Im about 40 mins in and Jim Carrey is awesome in it, creepy as hell.

Whaddya think of it?

I thought it was Rubbish actually left the movie theatre part way through it was that bad - a hardcore thing to do for a poor student!

I think this may partly be due to people expecting Dumb and Dumber / Ace Ventura stuff.

this is the second or third time Ive seen it and I cant get over how well Carrey plays his part. very eerie.

Karaoke scene is top too

I think it was received bad when it came out because everyone was expecting another totally daft Jim Carrey movie (I don't mean daft in a bad way, I loved the movies he had done up to this) but what we got was a comedy that was as black as they come, imo.

I love it.

I loved this film ever since I first saw it, probably one of Careys best movies. I'm kind of glad a lot of people don't like this movie, it filters out the people who don't have a good sense of humor.

Exact same for me. When it was originally released I did not care for it at all, watching it a few years later I saw the film that was actually there, not the film I was expecting to see at the time.

Definately the case Wedgie.

Ive just finished watching it and it was very good. The dream scene when he is doing the whole "Caaaable guyy!" thing, running at the door, its fantastic :D

Jim Carrey is a much better actor than people give him credit for, because the films he's best known for are slapstick and goofball comedies, even though acting in some of those films can take a lot of skill as well.

And if we're talking about lesser known Carrey films - watch The Majestic.

Very underrated.

:D

I would hate to be in the studio when Carrey performs, it would be too hard to control myself from bursting out laughing and ruining the scene.

The bloke cracks me up and cable guy is a great film!

The one that really does it for me everytime is his spoof of vanilla ice but that isnt a film. When he kicks his shoe off im almost dying with laughter lol.

Great film one of my fave Carrey films, worse one has to be Liar Liar, its got some funny bits but the cheese is a bit too much and the court room scenes where it gets serious at the end is cringey
