The clay always seems to break down and go funny when I use soapy water. :(

Are you flattening the claybar out first? it's meant to slightly break apart then you just remould it, you should remould it for every panel too so you're not claying another panel with the dirt the bar picks up from the previous panel!

I know that :p I have started using BH Auto-Clay that I use with water so it's not a problem I was just wondering what I did wrong. Maybe it was the solution I mixed up but it certainly wasn't quite right.

I just use the 2 blue Halfords wax/polish applicator pads that were £5/pair for srp/egp then an MF to finish :p - gets shiny results for me :D

Right, firstly don't read this post if you are offended by people who don't want a shiny/waxed/polished car :p

What is the lamest(cheapest, easiest) way to clean my car and not get horrible dirty water drips all over the thing?

No matter how many times I rinse the car through the way just evaporates leaving behind drip shaped dirt :( Looks bloomin' awfull!

Any advice?

If you're getting marks from water drying then you're doing it wrong :p

You need a microfibre drying towel, you should be drying the car the moment you finish rinsing it after a wash before the water can dry. Start drying the wettest panels first so the MF-towel absorbs some water then squeeze out excess water as it becomes water filled and continue onto other panels.

Clean it bloody right :p

Get a wash mitt and give it a good going over and make sure its rinsed right and as MRK says get a drying towel.

Our punto you just throw buckets of water of it and its fine!! (mind you the black metallic paint probably does a good job to cover up the crap!)

*edit* mf towel it is, not that I have the money btw!!!!!

:p

Thanks

Alec

That is wierd, although all mine is in a plastic carrying box thing, the problem is this box is absolutely massive, will get a pic at some point. mrk gonna have to sort some pics out soon when I detail my car in 2 weeks time :D

Give me a shout when you have a free day and we'll sort something out :p

As for the cleaning stuff, I don't leave all of them in the shed because people tend to start using them on household items which is not why I buy them (and they are not cheap either...) so keep these in the car instead. Cleared out the car cupboard in the shed today though so the egp/srp stays there now and all its bits. In the boot I've moved everything else because BMW conveniently gave loads of spaces to put everything just right :D

Glovebox now has just gps cable, ipod dock, various business/membership cards. Passenger door slot still has the dashboard pad :)

If someone spills anything on the seats then I'd rather not just wipe it and let the spillage dry, hence the cream staying in the car as I would rather keep my leather protected than wait until getting home to sort it. The other wipes are self explanatory, hand wipes for obvious reasons (checking tyre pressure getting brake dust on hands, checking fluid levels getting crap on hands from engine bay etc.

The matt dash wipes are for the same reason as people spilling something on the seat but instead kids putting foot marks on trim or grubby finger marks etc.

Dunno about anyone else but in my family I do drive various family passengers around a lot so need to stay on the side of caution just in case.
