Its just a shame you aint nearer :(

I'm not that good. I've just been taught well (Big thanks again to Swiss Tony, the guy is a legend :p) and I know the proper practice for machine polishing. Just need to put it into practice. I'm getting better with each car though and i've done 4 full cars since that course a few weeks ago.

Got 4 vans to do next week, weather dependant :)

A wool pad isn't going to offer any refinement though, so if that step is just after a wool pad, I'm certain you could get it better.

I find the megs finishing pad pretty good, except on my ST where it still manages to leave marring/holograms if I'm not ultra careful. I must say, I absolutely hate Ford Panther Black.

Did this today... They just wanted a good valet. Spent 2 and a half hours just on the exterior getting in all the nooks and crannies.

Heh, I'm still waiting for my Dad to ask me to do his Scirocco. Trouble is, it spends so much time sat in his garage, it never gets dirty.

It gets us by at the moment and we are building up a decent customer base. Already we have some repeat business with people so that's good.

Also we don't have premises so don't need to charge a fortune to pay rent and expenses. Not yet anyway. Also my cut is very good at the moment :)

Like i said before if its looking good try and invest a few quid if he will let you.

Sod that working for someone if you can get a foot in the door early on.

Thing with this guy is, he's a very good business man. He's setting up an online shop where he's going to make the majority of his money so he's not that fussed on the detailing side of it. I'm taking a large percentage of the profits with only a little bit going back into the business for cost of the products i'm using.

So at the moment I don't need to go solo as I'm making a decent profit out of it and I have the customers coming in due to the last guy who did a very good job and got a decent reputation.

I charged £50 to do the Caddy earlier in the thread, and that included a glaze as well - but then it was just supposed to be a wash, clay, wax etc. I'm just trying to go that one step further at the moment to get people's attention, and its working - I'm going to speak to the third "client" in just over a week tonight about doing his 911 with a fourth awaiting a visit and three others interested.

Its a good market over here, because no one else really does it (other than the bad hand washes and "valets"). Its just finding the people that appreciate the quality of the work over a normal valet that'll chuck a sponge over and give the inside a dust and hoover.

No im not saying go solo, im saying ask him if he would take a small investment in the business while it is small.

For example 5k now gets your foot in the door for a % in 5 years time when things have blossomed the same % will cost you 40k (made up figures for example)

And if it all goes to ****, well you aint lost much and you tried, onto the next idea.

Good luck mate... it sounds like a lot charging £50 for what is essentially a 'good wash' but people will pay it :)

Didn't think of that. Great idea!

They want to charge me 250 quid for a full clean in/out/engine and wax. No paint correcting on the Bentley.
