Had to park my car under a tree last night. Well I got it as far away as I could which I thought was out from underneath it

This morning, covered in sap

Is this all going to come off when I wash it? As it's sat on a nice wax coating? Or am I going to have to start again?

It's not the big puddles of the stuff.

I got to the car and it looked like it had been spitting, like tiny specs of rain but obviously it's dry and stuck on

But yeah, I'll wash it tonight :)

Has it ruined the wax? :(

A good wax should protect it. Just wash it and it should be as good as new.

Definitely want to get a rotary polisher now to add to my arsenal, some of the results look great in this thread for removing swirls etc. Can anyone recommend one but not overly expensive?

BennyC: Good job mate, that looks fantastic!

Noob question: What is EGP? What degreaser do you use? Also I bet you 'aint done the interior :p

get loads of wasps flying around because of that and it scares the hell out of me when i try to get in/out of the car :(
i wonder if there is some sort of paint-friendly wasp repellent i can buy to spray on my car :D

Did someone else's car for the first time today. He had bought an Evo with only 39k miles on the clock, and whilst the pictures looked ok, and looked as reasonable as it could be whilst dirty when he collected it, upon cleaning it was clearly evident the paint was absolutely terrible.

Knowing I was into detailing etc. he asked me to come have a look at it, so I packed all my gear into the boot of my car and set off to give it a clean and inspect.

After a good clean and clay it was evident this car had been washed with a combination of brillo pads and sandpaper (or at least it looked that way!) as well as some quite deep RDS' and scratches around the car - some of the more serious on the bonnet. Wheels were caked in brake dust, and it generally looked like a tired old Evo, certainly not the 39K mile minter you'd expect.

Unfortunately I didn't get any before pics, and the after pics didn't turn out too great, but the results speak for themselves IMO.

Can there be a rule in this thread that says if you're gonna take photos of a supremely shiny and spotless car then you should use a camera that is capable of showing up said shine? ;)

Gorgeous looking Evo though!

The trouble I have is that its completely immobile at the moment, so restricted to pictures indoors under artificial light - something my camera is terrible at without a flash, however the flash is far too harsh and focussed to take decent pics.

I will get some better pics once the car is moving again, later this week.

A quick one for a friend, no progress pics unfortunately but washed (2bm), clayed, rewashed/rinsed, PBW Blackhole applied by machine and megs finishing pad, Autoglym HD wax with PBW Natural Look for plastics and tyres and AG Fastglass for glass and lights, and all finished up with a going over of Megs QD.

Quick question (sorry I haven't read the entire thread!)

I washed my car the other day then gave it a going over with some Autoglym super-resin polish. This is the first time I've used it on this car as I've only had it for a few months.

The polish didn't work anywhere near aswell as it has done on previous cars. I've noticed when running my fingers over the paint I can feel quite small (but noticable) bumps.

Is this what claying will remove?

Yes as long as it isn't overspray. Also before you clay, i'd go over it with a tar remover first and remove any big black spots. Makes claying a lot easier.
