Sorry didnt see this thread when I popped my head in motors earlier.
I've been advised:

Wash car with Autoglym Shampoo
Clay with Autoclay bar
Polish with Autoglym SRP
Glaze with Poorboys black hole
Seal with Poorboys ex sealant
Wax with either poorboys natty paste wax or collinite 476s.

Had a quick look about and some of this stuff looks quite expensive :/
Are there any cheaper good perfoming alternatives?

Metallic Black Ibiza (think they call it mystic black or somethin similarly daft)

This is for the first proper clean my car has had since I bought it and yes its looking pretty grim lol

I don't think you need a sealant and a wax, they both do the same job, sealant lasts longer but isn't as shiny as wax generally speaking. I've been looking at the Black Hole stuff for when I run out of AG UDS!

The big cleanyourcar jumbo towel I bought ages ago isn't as good as the Muc-Off one that came with that set which Will Gill (I think) posted about ages ago. I couldn't believe how good it was especially at absorbing without leaving water streaks after just one or two wipes.

To be perfectly honest you could skip the Glaze and Sealant and go straight from the SRP to a wax. Collinite is a highly recommended wax with great durability and isn't that expensive either!

Is that the blue towel with red edging? If so i've been using one for a while now and it's a pretty good towel especially for the money. However I do agree there are better options. My current favourite is a towel from the chaps at Dodo Juice.

Better than a chamois leather I guess? I had the choice yesterday but had never heard of a drying towel so went for the chamois :(

Much better. I don't even have to squeeze it out when drying the car off. I can do the whole car and its still got plenty left in it before needing to squeeze any water out. Much less work.

Taking advantage of this awesome weather to give the car its proper annual going over.

So far, washed and claybar. Now for the polish. Also got a nice new bonnet badge and new foglights to go on, too :)

Damn. Payday soon ill splash for it then :) Although with this hosepipe ban talk going on, wont get many chances to give it a good wash!

Shouldn't you weekday car detailers be at work, you slackers? :p

mind you, I've got next week off so will probably give mine a good going over.

In hindsight I should probably have fitted my new plates with velcro, it was utterly filthy behind the old ones.

How many 'uses' do people normally get from one clay bar? I've used mine to do a full car on two separate occasions now. It can still be kneaded to "fairly clean".

I've got a couple of questions that go along with my new car:

1) It has swirl marks on the windows! Very fine circular scratching on all of the glass. What would get rid of this best? I've never seen it on a car before and didn't notice it at first but it's annoying at night.

2) What's the best leather feeder/conditioner/cleaner? The leathers in this car are in pretty lovely condition for its age and I'd like to keep them that way. I don't mind spending a bit of money as long as it'll last a long time, but obviously cheaper's better.

Thanks :)

Its not just OCD with stuff like that IMHO there is a reason for it, i'd remove them on my car if they weren't stuck on. Nothing worse than a clean car and then dirty water streaks dripping from behind the strips!
