I don't do much driving now as I walk to work but my lasting experience with PB goes back over a period of many years. Commutes and work driving would take me through Titchfield/Wickham and Fareham outskirts as well as up/down the M27/A3/M275/M3.

So yeah, a bit of driving around winding roads surrounded by trees and whatnot.

Nowadays I only really drive to visit people or to hoon up and down Wickham/Meon Valley areas.

Either way though, if you're driving through mud and horse **** constantly then no product is going to stop it gunking up your rubbers.

Your order from Autobrite Direct Ltd will be delivered 26 July by DPD. Can you please ensure that someone will be available to sign for the parcel at:

Been meaning to get a decent foam lance for a while :p Saturday morning I'll be up early to foam the **** out of everything :P

Raymond, when you wash your hands and then stick them in mud, do you expect your hands to still be clean?

If you dress your tyres and then go off roading then of course they are going to get dirty

When I run out of PERL i'll give the poorboys a try and see how long they last on my journeys and compare.

I really can't see it last 1 weekend never mind weeks.

I expect him to post his wax only lasts 2 days next as his car gets covered in mud as he drives through a field.

It's like he swallowed half of detailing world and recalls it in this thread without really knowing what it means half the time. A decent tyre dressing lasts several weeks and keeps the rubber looking nice, obviously if you drive it through mud it will get muddy!

Well, rather than dishing out wild assumption on what I might say next, please point out to me which/what I've said are wrong and provide your version of facts. I'd be happy to listen and learn.

I trust that you'd be kind enough to do that.

p.s. What product do you use on your tyres?

Well I don't go off roading in my car but the roads I frequently drive, there is a few hundred metres of it that particular stretch of road that cuts through a couple of farms which tractors cross from one side the other leaving mud on the road.

Obviously tyre dressing keep it black for longer if you just drive it to Tesco, for me at least the effect don't last as long and to keep it looking black means I need to wash and scrub it.

Yes I know it depends on your journey but to say "they last for weeks" I don't think that's true, not for everyone and of all people I would have thought Fox would see that (imagine if I made that statement, he would be the first in line to jump at it to correct me), seeing how pedantic he can be. It might be weeks for some but it certainly not weeks for me.

I'd be interested to hear what tyre products last well. I'm looking to get one of those large drying towels, forgot what a pain a black car is to dry. Anyone use those big fluffy drying towels?

Autoglym tyre dressing (Quick and easy to use, but medium life) or at the moment, an.. errr.. orange one the name of which I can't remember but will check :p

The effect does last! It isn't a dirt repellant. It's there to make the tyre sidewall black. If you then cover the tyre sidewall in mud and cow excrement the product hasn't not lasted, you've just covered the tyre in.. err.. mud and cow excrement.

If I wash my jeans with Persil and then immediatly mow the lawn, covering them in grass stains, it is completely ridiculous to then state persil doesn't last long. This is effectively what you are doing.

The effect lasts. You just cover it up by driving through mud. Most people don't.

You can't really expect the tyres to stay as shiny and black as they do with a fresh application of tyre dressing, after a couple of days/week they will dull but that doesn't mean it hasn't lasted. Go look at some tyres which have never been treated and compare to those done a couple of weeks ago, they'll look much worse.

Anyway, for me tyre dressing isn't that important, it's something that I will replace regualrly anyway, its not like the rest of the car. Hence my post on using left over PERL for it. I only got the AG stuff as it was 3 for 2 in Halfords last year to make up the numbers.

I certainly (for me) won't spend money solely on a product just for tyre dressing.

That's quite strange after seeing all your posts in this thread, as i'd say the tyres make all the difference. The bodywork can be great but it's often the final details that make the car look good.

ie for me what really finishes a car off is the glass, the tyres and the chrome details.
