Why did you choose rotary over a DA? (not saying it's wrong)

As far as i can see, the only reason to get a DA over a rotary is if you are scared that you'll do some damage with the rotary. I was originally considering the DA but have done a lot of reading and many people say the fear of doing damage with a rotary is overhyped (akin to the fear of RWD = instadeath). This coupled with the fact that my paint is supposed to be very hard (will still work my way up the pads though) and that Gtechniq P1 is meant to be a low temperature polish meant that I decided on rotary.

Not only this but i've seen countless posts of people who have bought DA's then say they wished they bought a rotary.

I've also done lots of reading and video watching of how to use a rotary and I will definitely be starting slowly.

p.s. and i think IronX is totally worth it.

Hmmm, ok. Didn't really know if it was worth the £12 + del asking price. I think i could probably get on without it tbh.

I've just had a bottle of Meg's 105 delivered. Here's hoping it produces the correction results I'm after. Meg's 85 didn't seem to do much to my BMW. Don't think the weather will allow me to give it a thorough polish before the RR though. :-(

Good price, but with the cheapest delivery, it makes it £11 :( still too much. Why don't any car cleaning websites do a free super saver delivery

I think I got mine from CYC back in December. Roughly £3-4 delivery, but I ordered a few other things to spread the cost of delivery out. It's rare that the good cleaning companies do free delivery due to the weight of the products they are delivering...

Detailing World may have the odd Group Buy deals or discount codes for CYC.

I use Iron X, its basically tardis but better.

Tardis will do the job just fine though. The bottle I bought will only do about 6 or so car washes, but then I'm addicted to using it everywhere :p

Just bought a silver focus but it has quite bad scratching around the door handle (probably people opening the door whilst holding the keys). I'd imagine T-cutting this would remove a lot of paint, would giving it a quick spray of paint first help fill in the cuts a bit?

No because the scratches will be in the lacquer so filling in with paint would be an awful idea.

Getting detailed y0.

Spent a few hours cleaning today so I might as well post up some photos. Used some Autoglym Aqua wax today which I used a few months ago or so and it seems to bead well, smells amazing too...like bubblegum. :p

Unfortunately it has rained this afternoon and a light sprinkle during the wax (which was a pain because I literally had to dry it again before buffing of the wax).

Products used:
Autoglym Clean Wheels, Body shampoo, Aqua Wax, Fast Glass
Meguiars Quick Detailer
Some small micro fibres that came with the Aqua Wax, apply to car when wet, then use one MF to spread the wax and the other to buff off. Used a large micro fibre towel from Cleanyourcar.co.uk for finishing any missed bits.
Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel - this stuff smells like blackcurrant. :D

Pads for a machine polish... Talk to me . Going to go mad on some swirls

What do people here use ?

Meguiars #83 and #80 polishes along with the Menzerna compounding and polishing pads from Clean Your Car.

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing/menzerna-polishing-pads/cat_24.html

I use Megs #83 with the compounding pad and #80 with the polishing pad to finish off.

In fact, I gave my bonnet a quick going over with the #83/compound combination today and the results are absolutely superb! There must be a 70% reduction in swirls from one pass alone.

Cleaned my other set of wheels yesterday with some Iron-X went out today to find dead grass everywhere! :p

Alloys came up pretty nice mind.

First time I've used the Autobrite lance since purchase 2 weeks ago and very impressed with it, the solution smells like bubble gum, wanted to lick it during drying as the fragrance remains on the car after the wash too.

Anyway, here's the result after just foaming then rinsing, the car has not been washed in just under a month btw:

(I do love my paintwork :p)

The lance bottle runs empty very quickly though, I wasn't expecting it to go within minutes as the stock Nilfisk foam bottle is smaller and lasts longer. I suppose it should go quickly given how much solution it pulls up compared to the Nilfisk one.

should have shown us a before shot, of the car before snow foaming. :p

I've been looking at videos on youtube of snow foaming in action and 9/10 times it is snow foaming what is already a clean car! :o

Try adjusting the dial on top you should find that you get a thicker foam that clings to the car longer and the bottle doesn't empty as fast, also having the water that you add to the bottle fairly warm helps too.
