should have shown us a before shot, of the car before snow foaming. :p

I've been looking at videos on youtube of snow foaming in action and 9/10 times it is snow foaming what is already a clean car! :o
Silver looks clean in videos and pictures even when dirty, it's the reflections that often give away how clean it is though.

Try adjusting the dial on top you should find that you get a thicker foam that clings to the car longer and the bottle doesn't empty as fast, also having the water that you add to the bottle fairly warm helps too.

Oh don't you think I'd have done this already before posting :-P

I was just going on the photos where it looks quite thin and also your comment of how fast the bottle emptied, I find that a bottle is enough to do two cars and still probably have a bit left.

Oh, it's been adjusted for the finest spray and stickiness and was quite thick. The pic was taken about a minute after when I went to grab my phone.

It's the Autobrite Magic Foam that came bundled with the lance. I have a 5 litre bottle of the stuff I got from CYC years ago so will check that would next time.

Neil777, do you only foam over each panel once or multiple times? I go over each side once then do the other side and then come back for sloppy seconds.

Cleaned my sister's 1 series. rinse, snow foam, 2 buckets, clayed, polished with SRP and then waxed with FK1000.

I tend to go around the car once then back around to get any bit's I've missed, I'm using magifoam too and find half a bottle is enough to do my passat estate.

Well yea, of course it does? How do you think its so effective? It's not designed for use 3 times a week!

When i went to get my alloy's refurbished, they asked me how I clean my alloys and said that just use what you clean your car with, that is the best thing if you are unsure. He specifically mentioned avoid using cleaners with acid on it. You can use it on your wheels if you want but i am not going to risk it! I am not going to argue with you whether acid based cleaners is good or not, you can use it on your car if you want.

Besides, who cleans their wheels 3 times a week?!

To be honest I have read that it does contain acid. I hardly use it all the time, I think only twice when they have been particularly dirty. :o

I would have thought, as long as you use it properly and wash it off not long after spraying then any effects the 'acid' might have would be minimal. Usually I find after washing the entire car then some quick detailer and a small micro fibre works fine.

On the downside I went out this afternoon to wash the car only to be met with thunderstorms half way through washing. I managed to dry it off when the rain stopped for a few mins but then it started again. :(

God damn stupid weather interrupted my cleaning today as well!

Managed to get it more or less shampoo'd and dried as well as the glass polished, but didn't get chance to polish & wax the paint before the thunder started!

I don't get wheel cleaner. Fair enough, Iron X or similar to remove the bedded in stuff but generally if you look after your car, you won't need much more than hot soapy water

Bilberry is the stuff to go for, dilutes to crazy amounts and a 1 litre bottle will last ages.

Non aciditic too, its great stuff. Possibly not as good as Iron X but it lasts a hell of a lot longer and not that much worse than Iron X. A must buy imo.

I've just used the Autoglym kit on the mohair hood of the MX-5 (above).

Impressed with the results but it was the first time I'd done it so I can't compare the AG kit with any other products.

Wow so much to take in!

So I've just got a new (to me) car. Currently have no products, mitts or anything so I need to buy it all in. However.... there are soooo many different products and techniques.

One thing I have found is the Karcher outlet which seems to give a good saving.
http://www.karcheroutlet.co.uk/prod...essure-Washers&sID=K1-and-K2-Pressure-Washers

Can anyone please help me, and give me an idea of what I need to get, and where from?

I'm sure there are loads of answers in this thread, but it's 76 pages!

Thanks
Paul

edit: one other thing... it's a cabriolet, so do I need to be careful what shampoo's etc I use? Is there a recommended product for the hood?
