Quick clean ... alloys need refurbishing :(

Thinking of grabbing an Electrolux Stair and Carvac for inside the car, can pick one up for £40, anyone got any experience with one? Current hoover is rather useless for inside the car (upright style one) and it's getting annoying constantly borrowing Dads when the car needs doing.

Had my first go with a clay bar yesterday (just the Meg's smooth kit) - wow what a difference it made! Polished and waxed after claying, looks so good.

Same here, used one of the first time and the results are fantastic! The paintwork is so smooth and with the polish, it looks great. I'll have to put some pictures up at some point.

Didn't have enough time to wax mine, so will do that this week

Edit: Has anyone got any tips of on removing/treating stone chips? After doing the above, the stone chips really show up now

I'm going to view an Astra VXR Nurburgring tomorrow. Ive always wanted a white car but would like some advice on caring for one.

I have in my current arsenal various mainstream products such as Megs Techwax, Autoglym Reson Polish, Auto Glym Deep Gloss Sealant etc.

Never used a clay bar before but have a feeling I may need to soon learn. Any suggestions for polish and waxes for a white car? How about removal of tarspots which I imagine will become a major battle!!

Well after 8 hours' work last week, the car is beading nicely.
However, it's raining which means it's dirty again.

Noob question: Should I wash it with a 2 bucket method again, or just use quick detailer spray and a towel?
Hopefully washing it with mitts won't remove the wax?

2 bucket. I there's fine dust / grit on there now, detailer spray will just wipe that all across the paint. It's just not worth the risk. You might find a good foaming will remove most and dry with detailer spray?

In my experience there has never been one place to get things the cheapest.

I use a selection of providers from eBay, CYC, Halfords, Juicy, and any motor factors I happen to visit at the time.

Im after one of those fancy buckets with the grit guard, and some new rags to clean the M135i when it arrives, im going to have to say good bye to my polish friends

Whilst were here actually can you reccomend me a decent shampoo and wax. The colour of the car is Estoril blue :)

Shampoo, I always end up going back to Zymol Natural Shampoo, green in colour and devoid of harsh chemicals.

No idea on the best wax to use on a lighter blue, but I'm using Natty's Blue Paste Wax.
