A good wax that stops it getting as filthy and then a quick detailer like BSD or CG Speed Wipe. Don't want to use a QD when its to dirty they're mainly designed to get rid of dust, fingerprints etc.

So had a pretty major spillage of a sticky substance in the back seat (hur hur), anything in particular that I should do or just get a bottle of Autoglym interior shampoo and some kind of a microfibre towel?

Looking at some new cleaning products to start off with my new car and come up with the items below;

I don't own a pressure washer but going to use mains pressure, can I use the Maxi Suds for both the foam wash and main bucket wash also whats good for wheel cleaning :)

Cool, a few options to choose from, I have 18" wheels and I can fit my fist through the spokes and clean the inside without issue :D

Blooming hell - thanks mate. I love this stuff and usually pay £11 at amazon.

You're welcome. I'm about to try some for the first time!

A very good price indeed although you do have to spend over £10 to take advantage of the promo code!

Wonder if they do decent microfibre towels, or something similar, as I am bit new to this car cleaning business? ;)

Order two of them? :)

Just reading through everyones posts and I just wanted to ask if the microfibre cloths are a better alternative to chamois leathers?

I have always used these after washing the car!

Thanks :)

Yes. Unless the surface is perfectly clean a chamois will cause damage. A microfibre drying towel (pat dry and not drag) is much safer and causes less damage.

Whilst people still traditionally use a chamois they have been far exceeded with more modern methods.

I pretty much followed the suggestions in wohoo's opening posts on the car I have owned for a month today and am quite satisfied with the result. I don't think it had been washed as well before.

I did a quick jet wash at Tesco before doing a hand wash and dry using the two bucket method with some Halfords shampoo and a Meguiar's Microfibre Mitt and Water Magnet. There isn't a hose at my property so several trips with a watering can were needed to rinse before and after!

I then used the Meguiar's Quick Clay Starter Kit and applied Autoglym polish and wax using Farecia G3 Waffle Pads. Each application was buffed using Halfords microfibre cloths.

The car is now much cleaner and smoother, but it took a significant amount of time!

Please excuse the overcast lighting and dirty street/neighbours!

Yesterday I replaced the sidelights which is a headlights off job so cleaned those and the engine bay that's hidden by them and then decided I might as well take the rear lights off because you can't really get in because of the boot seal. The other side was a lot worse but it's a hell of a transformation.

I've never been massively into washing cars beyond a quarterly wash and occasional polish, but after several off road days the car was looking a bit sorry for itself, with loads of minor scratches down the sides from encroaching trees and bushes (it's quite a wide car for green laning!)

So I decided it would be worth investing in a machine polisher. Went for the Maguiars Dual Action and a selection of cutting, polishing and buffing pads. Watched a few youtube videos and then set about washing and then claying the car. First time I've done that and difference was unbelievable - paintwork lovely and smooth!

I then went round the whole car with the Maguirs ultimate cutting compound, followed by the Maguirs ultimate polish followed by the Maguirs Carnuba wax.

It took pretty much an entire day start to finish, but the results were amazing. Literally looks better than new now. The machine polisher got rid of all the scratches and swirls, and even the mrs noticed how good it looked. Someone also commented in the car park that it looked amazing :)

So I feel like I've got my money out of it already! The pictures don't really do it justice, but here's a few.
