Just ordered some collinite 845 for my car, although looking like won't get any decent weather this week to polish and wax it anyway :(

To those saying don't apply collonite too thickly, the key is to use a damp applicator, If you're using a foam applicator dunk it in your bucket first and ring it out then start applying wax, it goes on much nicer and buffs off so easily with the same protection.

Struggled buffing off thick coats of collonite for years!

Yeah can vouch for the Collinite 476. Beading just as well as it did when I applied it back in December. Excellent product

Just don't apply too much of it and think you need a thick layer, makes it an absolutel nightmare to buff off

From the other day :)

Several years ago I'd first bought all my cleaning gear and spent about 2 days doing my little focus. washing, claying, polishing and thne giving it a nice couple of coats of 476.

It was so clean that several days later I couldn't find it as I was looking for a dirty car lol.

Anyway, one morning I had to get up super early and the water drops that had formed just like that had frozen. But instead of freezing like water drops, they formed tiny little cubes. I wish I'd had my camera with me :(

Mine isn't 2 bad after 2 weeks, including a 120 miles of country lanes, 300 miles drive down the M4/M25, parking at the airport for 4 days with all that pollution.

The only thing I don't like about beading is if you don't drive and the sun comes out, you end up with hundreds of water spots.

A rinse before washing:

Can anyone recommend me a decent lambs wool mitt for cleaning? Should I clean in swirls or straight lines? (I use the two bucket method atm)

You'll be amazed at the difference in the colour of the water in the rinse bucket after a wash on a car that's filthy!

Tbh my wash bucket water never gets 'that' dirty. I try to wash the car once a week, if not once every two weeks. Very rarely I let it go longer than that so it never gets that bad I guess.

It's the risk of rubbing dirt back on the paint that worries me, minimises chance of that happening is good. 2 buckets isn't that much more difficult or faff than 1 bucket really.

No its not difficult. Just everytime I go into halfords I'm a cheapskate and don't want to spend £2.99 for a extra bucket. :p

I do have a seperate wheel bucket solely for cleaning wheels/tires though.

Okay, I realise this question probably gets answered a lot, but I've been through the last 5 pages or so and can't find anything that helps.

I've recently bought a new car, a mid-2013 Z4 35iS. It's mineral white metallic (yes, I know, recession white) which I actually really like. In some lights it's obviously white, in others it's almost silver.

The paintwork seems in great condition, as is the whole car, and I'd like to keep it that way. I've never had a car I really cared about before and as such my method of washing has always been a bucket, some nondescript brand of shampoo in a 5l bottle and a 59p car sponge.

I've read about lambswool mitts, snow foam, shampoo, shampoo+wax, polish, two buckets, three buckets... I just don't know what to do.

Can you guys help me? A list of what I should go out and buy for not mega money to keep this car's paint in proper nick is what I'm after. The previous owner used Meguiar's products... I have no idea if this is good or bad.

Help me please :(
