I tried Scratch X and it didn't do jack, I spent about 2 hours just on the bonnet after reading how much effort you have to put in to get it to work.
I bought a rotary polisher off ebay from Germany and its been great, done my car and a couple of others and it hasn't skipped a beat. Feels solid and very powerful.
It cost about £50 delivered, got some Menzerna aswell and does a fantastic job.

My full paint correction routine is:

Wash 2 bucket method
Dry using Sonus der Wonder Towel
Clay and use a 50:50 megs detailing spray & water
Rotary polisher & Menz Intensive polish
Megs step 1
Megs step 2
Collinite 845

What I noticed after using a rotary polisher is that it not only gets rid of scratches but the shine you get is fantastic.

Also I've read on this thread about people having dissapointing results after claying, I was so impressed. Before hand the surface of my car felt rough and afterwards it felt like glass. I think their cars must have been fairly new or just free from surface contaiminents.

Hi guys,

New car, eleven year old black Fiesta. Absolutely pristine, one-lady owner job.

I am on a washing shopping list.

I have so far;

1) Lambs wool mit
2) Cotton mit (types etc)
3) Waffle fabric towel

I need;

1) A shampoo
2) A wax (not interested in separate polishing, but want a wax that gives a polished/liquidy look)
3) A tyre cleaner

Anticipating your advice :)

1 - Megs
2 - Collinite 915.
3 Tyre cleaning - megs stuff / Alloy cleaner autoglym I found best as not abbrasive as most.

From what I've read, awesome durability but is the finish (gloss/wet look) first class?

I've tried Victoria Concours before and found Collinite to be 90% of the finish but about 5 times the durability.

Unless you are going to wax your car every 3 weeks / Month (it's allright saying you will but are you being realsitic?) I'd definately go with the Collinite.

If you are not going to polish then you can forget about a wax giving you awesome results in the looks department. I'm afraid it takes work. But the results do last a while.

Is it easy to handpolish - could you recommend one? I'm trying to keep costs down, I am starting out with zero kit :)

Yeah its not too hard just effort required, SRP by Autoglym is possibly one of the best hand polishes. I just picked a litre of it up at Halfords for £10 which is a bargain. A litre will last a few years.

What kind of materials do you need for it? Can you majorly screw up the paintwork by polishing wrongly?

afaik Autoglym's SRP is a filler not a cutter so I dont think you can go wrong with the stuff as it can be washed off quite easily when not sealed with a sealant or wax.

As for application I think it's literally apply thinly with a foam applicator and buff off with a microfibre cloth and then a coat of wax to protect it.

What's a good leather product cleaner to use? well I mean what's a good spray or wipe to use for keeping leather seats in good condition? I have some Bouchard leather cleaning wipes but if these are no good then... ?

Finish is excellent imo, but imo victoria wax,p21s,harley's etc give a slightly better finish, but obviously without the durability.

As for leather, you Gliptone is exellent, i personally use Turtle wax, but my car is less than 2 years old.

SRP does have a very mild cut to it.

If you're looking for decent machine polish then try the 3M system, unfortunately unless you are very friendly with a local bodyshop you wont be able to lay your hands on it.

What you see is what you get as unlike Farecla G3 there is no filler in any of the 3M stuff so even if you pressure wash it afterwards it won't make any difference.

Otherwise if you're after wax that you can apply by hand, they do a Polish Rosa which you can use over bodywork, doesn't stain trims and can even be used on your windows although I wouldn't recommend using it on your windscreen as it does contain some silicon.

One other question; I have very fine scratch marks on my car, in a fair few places. What would you do to get rid? Is there some kind of 'filler' polish?
