Just an mf cloth. A brush is only really required if the seats have trapped dirt that needs agitating, otherwise regular cleaning with an keeps dirt from being trapped. If a brush is required, then the usual recommendation is a horse hair hand brush.

Got Avalanche Snow Foam, although I haven't noticed many benefits using it to be honest. I like to think it is helping, but it just doubles my time out there. Sometimes I am applying the Snow Foam, rinse off, then re-apply and use that as 'soap' as it feels like it is doing a better job than AutoGlym shampoo (no lather/bubbles).

The WHEELS are a pain in the... I have used Dragons Breath, recently switched to Bilberry but it doesn't do the wheels without getting the EZ Brush and takes about 20 minutes a wheel for a good clean (clean the entire wheel, not just the outer section).

My questions are... Any good snow foam that really takes it off, or traffic film remover better? Any better shampoo, however I am hesistant in purchasing any more as all that I have used so far do not lather/feel like its actually cleaning.

Also, any easy application 'spray' of wheel sealant? I've used Poorboys, but it is a nightmare to apply, and even after the application it wasn't like I used the pressure washer and it was all clear. I hear all the time if your wheels are sealed, pressure washer is enough but I am yet to discover that.

I have also used Autoglym HD Wax, and Collinite as a wax... Take ages to apply - wondering if there is a spray alternative or if I should stick to these two for best results?

Thanks

Just bought a black car. Most I have is a microfibre wash mitt and 2 buckets.

Autobrite good enough for foam lance? Which wash mitt should I be using? Lambs wool or sheepskin or something?

Polish/wax - autofinesse tripple ok?

It also minimises the grime the wash mitt picks up. Always good to have a prewash grime remover so the real dirt dirt can be removed with the mitt.

I used the purple monster for the first time today, gotta say I'm very impressed. Absorbs so much water and leaves no streaks.

I need to get a decent drying towel, drying a Carbon Black car is taking a bit more effort than Estoril Blue did, the smearing is pretty obvious!

I've been going over it with Megs Ult Quik Wax post-dry (you can use it on everything) for the moment, works pretty well.

Think I'll get a Wooly Mammoth...

Don't. My wooly mammoth is used as, well, nothing.

My questions are... Any good snow foam that really takes it off,

My new routine is:

Bilt hamber auto-wheels first. spray it on all 4 and leave to work.

While it is working, snow foam the car with Autobrite Magifoam (very thick foam setting)

Once car is foamed, pressure wash the wheels off and apply foam to those also.

Go inside, make a cuppa, check some emails, leave it 25-30 mins.

Pressure wash foam off.

Grab bucket, a handful of microfibres. Fill bucket with nice warm water and Autoglym shampoo. Soak microfibres in the bucket and shampoo, use them to do a "once over" the car / alloys. (this is done rather than 2 bucket method, same principal though, use a microfibre once and then discard)

Rinse off.

Dry off, use a rapid detailer to clean up any water marks.

Carpro hydro2

You can use it on the whole car infact, i tend to use it every other time i seal as it gets in to all the nooks and crannies and then use blackfire crystal seal on the paintwork the other

Pft, makes a change. When I foam my car, well lets just say a couple of neighbors experience a free foam.

e; And before anyone asks, yes they all know I wash my car and they simply couldn't give a **** :p

Ha :) Most of mine will ask for a quick wash off if I have the lance out and just use some cheapo cleaner, it takes the worst off and takes me 5 minutes, and some happy neighbors.

Hi guys.
Can you help me with a basic kit to wash my car?
Need to be budget option as don't have much money.

I have no clue, it's my first car at 39, passed just a month ago :o
It's a Ford Focus zetec 1.6, 2010 silver...
Wife and I had no need for a car, but been approved to adopt a child recently(now waiting for a match) and car makes sense now.

I'm terrible at recommending things, but congratulations on the adoption :)

Congrats on the adoption, and also the new car :)

As for budget it depends on how far you want to go with keeping it clean and looking after it.

The absolute basics you need are 2x Buckets, some car Shampoo, a Wash mitt and a drying towel - that is the minimum you need for a basic wash that will keep the car looking clean.

After that the sky is the limit

I keep reading on here about 'snow foam' which is not a product I am familiar with!

What is the basic equipment needed to apply it... is a pressure washer essential, or is there a better (cheaper?) alternative?

Presumably it is a good thing to use on a brand new car?

(Sorry for all the questions!) :)

pressure washer + snow foam gun + snow foam :)

I find that it removes a decent amount of dirt without you having to touch the car, helps remove dirt that's more stubborn when you actually get to two bucket method and over-all is just fun to use ;)
