That looks alright, thanks very much :) ...much more the sort of price I was looking at paying, I'm sure it'll be fine being used no more than about once a week at the most. It'll be less than once a week when the new car novelty really wears off :p

Collinite 476s is a great sealer for silver, polish with your usual polish or wax and then seal it with 476s.

You won't be disappointed.

I'm not....and I am not easily made happy with stuff like this :p

Here's a tip of what NOT to do when trying to be clever :o and using WD40 to remove tar while claying.

DON'T do this. The clay instantly breaks down and bonds to the paint.

clay is a oil based clay.
WD40 is a solvent.

much like dropping diesel/petrol on a tar based road. the highly refined oil base product of diesel/petrol/wd40 start to "melt" the tar/clay as it tries to return to its original state... Oil.

much more scientific way of putting that but i no idea how to word that ;)

Collinite 476s is hard wearing, i wouldn't say it *looks* all that special though.

Yea it is very long lasting and hard wearing but adds little or nothing to the finish. Although if you prep the paint well with a clay and some decent polish then you'll still get a great finish.

Exactly how mine ends up...don't need a super glossy top coat as long a syou use a good undercoat (clay/polish as mentioned above) then 476s will keep it looking fresh due to it's strength.

I will give it a go and see what I think. Mine looks really shiny just after a basic wash and I've clayed it once already this year.

I'm going to try some Bilberry wheel cleaner as my wheels are always a mess then stick some Collinite on those too.

Cheers for hte advice guys.

Here's my car after just a basic hand wash:

I used a microfibre and managed to wipe the clay off.

At what stage do I try and remove tar from the lower half of the door and skirts? Being a black car I can only assume its tar.

Before clay or or after clay?

After clay, as most tar removal solution will degrage the clay and you will need to re-wash like you just have. I usually get most of the tar etc off with the clay itself.

Ah im having problems with my alloys. I clean them but i cannot get the little bits of what i assume is break dust that build up in the corners of the alloys. I have tried different things but i just cant get it off!

Any ideas?
