Good god, i forgot how bad it was to wash the car in the hot sun, bleeding water spots, and the water round here isnt even that bad. On the plus side, CG Blacklight makes the metallic grey pop like hell, pity it doesnt last that long :(

I do it a bit at a time. E.g. rinse the roof, clean it, rinse it, dry it. Then do the same with the offside, then the bonnet, then the nearside, etc. Works for me and I’m in a very hard water area with a black car - if I leave water on the panels in the hot sun for more than a few seconds they’re impossible to get off.

Yep, I washed mine this weekend and ended up having to go over it with a load of detail spray to clean up the marks where the coating in my soap had dried. Time to find a new 'summer' shampoo I think...

Any thoughts on a good product to get rid of suntan lotion hand prints? Am I looking for traffic film remover or similar? Or would this fallout type stuff be the thing to use?

I've tried SRP but it didn't really touch it.

Thanks.

Do you have to clay after using a fallout remover or is it good enough that you can just jetwash it off?

Normally jetwash then clay from what I can gather, in order to lift particles loosened/dissolved by the fallout remiver.

(Or at least that's what I did when I ironx'd my bumper a few pages back)

Gave the car a good clean yesterday and finally got around to using some of the towels I bought from the Autobrite van that was at the OcUK meet in March.

I used the Autobrite Guv'nor to remove the wax once first applied and I have to say, it is the first "detailing" towel I've genuinely been impressed with. Absolutely effortless to remove the wax, thoroughly recommended!

Yeah use that with my project 32. It’s great. I had the big purple drying towel out the bag for first time on saturday to dry the car off, fortunately I have shade, and Using that after top gloss was simply too easy - no drips, runs or spots. Wife’s mini has looked awesome all weekend.

Did you just car shampoo for clay lube?

Did you just car shampoo for clay lube?

Car was already fully washed a day or two before, so was just a case of quick snow foam and pressure wash, followed by ironx then rinsed with pressure washer and then clay.

I use bolt hamber clay that needs nothing more than water.

I ran out of snow foam over the weekend - the autobrite one that came with the lance. Shall i buy the same again or any other recommendations? Thanks

I used to do this with my clay mitt. So, so much more effective with a detailer fit for purpose. I use Autoglym Rapid Detailer. Much better lubrication, much quicker removal of contaminants.

I forgot how good a clay mitt is. So much easier than a clay bar and easily as effective. Being a white car you can really see all the tiny spots lift off.

I've been using the Valet Pro bulk stuff since my Autobrite one ran out but to be honest, the Autobrite snow foam seemed to clean better with less residue.

Tried more snow foams than I care to admit.

They go:

Good, but will strip everything off the car including LSP ----------- Most snow foams fall here, and do absolutely nothing worthwhile --------------- Awesome, LSP safe and remove most dirt

In terms of what I would use on my car

Autobrite Magifoam
Avalanche
Sams Active Foam
If in an absolute bind, Bilt Hamber Autofoam

In that order.
