I use the BH bar and find it excellent.

Personally I would go for the softer BH clay bar. I find the regular hard to work and it's quite aggressive

Another BH Clay user here - I have the soft and would recommend it - can't imagine needing anything more aggressive, and certainly wouldn't want anything that's harder to work with.

Walmart have started stocking some Chemical Guys stuff so I got their Citrus wash. I used it in my foam cannon on both of our cars and then used it in the bucket on my wife's. It comes out of the foam cannon like wallpaper paste, it's beautiful. The bucket results were slightly underwhelming, Megs Ultimate Wash and Wax is better for that IMO, and cheaper.

I also have that Citrus wash, if adding to a bucket you dont need much, makes the car nice and shiny.

I currently have 7 items in my basket over a CYC... total of £92... whoever thought that basic car cleaning kit can get so expensive :D
It quickly mounts up. I’ve found shopping around for some stuff helps. 15L bucket from Wickes for example is 99p. 20% off Megs stuff at Halfords (their buckets are £7-odd, half the price than CYC if you want a branded one) and Amazon can be competitive almost everywhere will be cheaper than CYC though.

I'm definitely going to be shopping about, its the branded stuff like DoDo Juice shampoo and Zymol Wax etc that seems to cost the most.

What's the easiest way to get tree sap off? I'd rather get something which breaks it down before sticking a mitt on the car as it's sticky goo everywhere with bits of dirt stuck within it.

I find just a good rinse with water dissolves it and washes it off pretty quickly. If you have years of it stuck on (like an old car that I had) you might need something stronger. Depends what equipment you have available.

This is where a pre-wash (like snow foam) is very useful because it soaks all of these surface contaminants thoroughly so that they come off easily. If you need something stronger then clay would also work.

Washed my car on Saturday, with the weather being nice now I'd like to keep it looking good in between washes. Am I right in thinking that you can use detailing spray for this purpose? And if so which would you recommend?

The problem with weather like this (i.e. hot and dry) is that the car will be covered in fine dust and pollen, and if you do anything other than wash it properly you risk marring the paint by dragging all the muck across it with a detailing spray and cloth. Best you can do really is to ensure that it's got a good coating of some wax or sealant to make it easy to wash it properly.

Finally got all the dirty work done on the car ready to start polishing it. Looks like it's been washed with a brillo pad at this point...

Started working on the rear wing, about to do 2nd pass with a finishing pad and my DAS6 decided to pack up :(

If you've got a pressure washer, then I'd just give it a quick rinse. If it's already decently waxed then you can quickly remove dust/pollen/bird droppings on a regular basis between "full washes".

Anyone used Kenotek antisect? It's a bug remover with good reviews from people that have used it

The only thing that remains on my car after washing is flies on the bumper..

haven't heard of that specific brand, though I can say that Autoglyms one is garbage. Tried that on my father's car at one point, didn't do a thing. Angelwax Revenge is meant to be very very good, as is Power Maxxed Bug and Tar remover.

Personally never felt the need, citrus degreaser prior to a snow foam and then a normal wash with Gold Class has always dealt with the bugs without issue... Even on my gfs car which hadn't been washed in 6 months.

Does any-one use one of these to dry off the car

I use snow foam followed by Dodojuice shampoo, but I'm sick of putting the swirls back in by drying. Currently use a decent though getting a little old now drying towel - everything washed after one use.
These seem like a good idea watching youtube videos.

I have one of those industrial vacuum cleaners and it has a suck and a blow function and with a well waxed car it blows off water no problems. I usually just use a towel with some quick detailer as drying aid.

you should not be putting swirl marks if you washed your car properly either ;)
