I’ve moved from snow foam to bilt hamber surfex had as my PW, for the glitz and glamour of snowfoam, the surfex applied using hand pump garden sprayer, removes just as much gunk if not more.

Anyone else get depressed by the state of other peoples paintwork, sadly ive spent a lot time in rush hour and traffic jams in this glorious weather, and the state of some peoples cars is shocking, and im talking fairly new cars, that are clean. I guess its a result of people just using the local hand carwash places a little too much, but some of the paint work you see is so swirled/marred its crazy.

It’s both :p

https://www.bilthamber.com/surfex-hd

I’ve never used it for a prewash, I use it for my arches and tyres however and door shuts on minging cars (As a degreaser followed by new grease)

:p I dilute it 20:1 for a PW. For a long time i used the Autobrite SF, and i'll prob still use it in winter, but for most washes, SHD is my goto bottle, it works really well as a PW and far less work cleaning up afterwoods!

Haven't really seen other people's cars up close , probably a good thing from what you've said :p

I machine polished mine but it still isn't perfect..

I know a few people who get the car covered entirely in self healing PPF and do the same.

6am car wash, nice and cool out.....

I own a Karcher K4 had it for a good few years but it's on its last legs, whats the good unit in the £100-£150 mark

Mainly car washing but cleaning the patio etc

Thanks

Really wanting and in need of cleaning mine this weekend, but this hot weather makes cleaning awful. Would you guys wait until we get some cooler weather to attempt cleaning?

Depends on what you have setup for cleaning it. I would do the wet clean outside, but then I can take the car into the shade for polish etc... The wet clean will help cool the panels down enough if you can get it in the shade for the rest. If that's not an option, you can still do the wet clean bit, but I probably wouldn't attempt to polish it too much if the panels are going to be too warm. You could, of course, cool the panels down with water, then dry, then polish and buff, one panel at a time, if you didn't have access to shade, and didn't mind the extra work involved.

I did mine after 6pm when it cooled down a bit. But you have to still do it panel at a time otherwise you end up chasing your tail with the water spots. You can also do it early between 7am and 9am, temps are normally not too bad. A friend of mine who is a bit of detailing nut, has 2 double garages, one for washing and one for the rest :p He also has a lots of money and a huge farm!

I did mine at 6am this morning, or leave it til this evening when it's cooler as people say :)

Noticed a scratch on my bonnet :( How do I go about attacking this?
Drag your finger nail across it, if it catches then it'll be a pain to get out. If you can see primer then you'll need a smart repair or if it's light scratch that barely catches your finger nail then pop down to halfrouds and get a tub of g3 scratch remover and a microfiber cloth and with some elbow grease you'll get it out completely or hide it really well do it won't stand out.
