I tried clobberizer and it didn't work for my car, so I thought I would give an odour bomb product one more time and I used a product called "AirVidox". Worked like a charm at removing the cigarette smoke in my 2012 Range Rover Sport. Which smelt bloody horrendous after I bought it. Took the smell away completely.

Gave mine a much-needed clean at the weekend and also (hand)polished with SRP then followed up with EGP.

Paintwork is in a pretty poor state, but now we've moved and I finally have a garage and driveway again rather than parking on main road and public car parks I can get it sorted. Otherwise, from a distance, it looks very nice indeed when shiny!

Just enquiring about getting my new car coated (Gtechniq Crystal?) I’ve never really considered this before. Is it worth it ? Anyone got any experience ?

F10 M5? Or M3?

Looking at these for later this year and wanted to get an idea on costs.

As above an F80 M3, late 2015 model. I've owned it for just over a year and done ~29k miles in it so far. I've averaged 29.3mpg from it during that time, though it's quite easy to have it in the low 20s for a tank if you're heavy footed. Across Germany I used a whole tank of fuel in ~150 miles, which is an average of ~13mpg I think, but I was pretty much flat out the whole time when possible.

Standard kit is decent, but mine's got quite a few options:
- M-DCT
- ICON adaptive LED headlights
- HK audio
- individual paint
- individual leather
- carbon trim
- HUD
- Speed limit display
- heated steering wheel
- heated rear seats
- privacy glass
- enhanced storage

Mine's also got a service pack (the old style one) so I've not had to worry about the servicing costs, but it can be high if you have it done via a dealer. 2nd main service for example of nigh on £900 through a dealer.

I've just taken the warranty out on mine, and I posted the costs for that (on <60k miles) on the BMW owner's thread recently.

My Autobrite Foam lance and bottle of Magnifoam have just arrived.

Tried it Thursday as I had a day off work. This is amazing, so much better than the Karcher offering, it went on like shaving foam!!!

The results were astonishing by comparison. Then I dried it and put on some autoglym super resin polish.

Tried Gyeon wet coat for the first time today, think i was a bit trigger happy with it but the hydrophobic properties of it within seconds is really quite cool, i don't think it'll last that long at this time of year but for quick protection it's probably going to be my go to now! Probably should have taken pics but my phone camera is borked unfortunately!

I also bought the autobrite foam lance to pair with my new K4. Far superior to my old amazon snow canon and very old nilfisk pressure washer. I even moved over the 1.1 orifice over and it got even thicker the magifoam is the thickest I have ever used

First mega detail of the year inside and out, engine bay, alloys drill polished, door and boot sills cleaned, exhaust tips autosol'd, full machine polish with meguires 105 and 205, finished with meguires NXT 2.0 wax.

you had a different adult polisher for the bodywork to that used/pictured for the wheels, I guess ?

If anyone saw wheeler dealers lotus elan m100 (clip - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiYH8-U61rg )

they showed (unfortunately not in the utube clip) cleanup of the leather and dash with a steam cleaner -- so has anyone bought one ?
- it looked effective, is this the ideal shared his'n'hers kitchen/car gadget.

Also showed internal cleanup with a non-specified general purpose cleaner and also a leather reviver ... would be interesting to know the products used.

I use steam cleaners all the time. Great for engine bays, car vents, seats (leather and fabric). Also epic around the house, windows hobs, ovens, showers blah blah. Mine was just a £16 one from Sainsburys - Beldray or something branded.

General purpose cleaner is just an APC. They're all much of a muchness, so grab a cheap one like Koch Chemie GreenStar - which also happens to be a fantastic APC.

Leather cleaner wise, go to an actual upholstery shop instead, like LTT or Colourlock.

plenty of discussion here

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/ceramic-coating-fiction-or-fact.18843390/

it depends on if you think you will get value out of it..it certainly makes keeping the car in good condition easier. But its not a some sort of magic coating that will stop scratches or chipping

I had mine done and compared to the crappy dealer offerings of just sealants its streets ahead (pics are on the discussion thread)

bottom line is it aint cheap, but I like to take care of my car and it will make it much easier over the next 3 years or so

but dont think of it as just a coating, the correction work and machine polishing of the car is what takes up most of the time, so you get the car back after a couple of days with the paintwork as good as its likely to get

bad sealants are done on top of bad paintwork..getting it properly prepped is what contributes to it lasting properly
