I'm debating whether or not to proceed with getting a full detail done on the car. Stage 1 machine polishing and then Gtechniq ceramic coating on all paint + wheels.

I feel like it is worth doing and I would appreciate however the cost took me by surprise. Fairly certain I am going to proceed with it.

I've gone to a few places and been quoted just over a £1k. Another place quoted £750 but that did not include a true ceramic coating.

Is this the going rate these days for a car detail? I must say it took me by surprise as I know others that have had it done (although it was at least 5 years ago) and I'm certain the going rate back then was between £400 - £600.
I have my car currently in at KDS Keltec for a full 2 stage correction and GTechnique Crystal Serum ceramic coating. Looking at about £1.5k. Eye watering, but I've seen the work they do and the attention to detail is astounding. But if you're seeing quotes for £1k for just a single pass, perhaps it's not all that unusual.

I'm justifying it as the coating should last years and as it's a new car that I intend to keep, I'd budgeted for it earlier this year anyway. Something I've always wanted to get done.

Cleaned the car today nothing major just a shampoo with autoglym body conditioner, a light decon with some purple rain 3.0 iron fallout remover then a coating of meguiar's ceramic wax.

Used bilt hamber auto wheel cleaner for the first time today and wow, i haven’t been impressed with a cleaning product for a while now but this was brilliant. Spray on and let it dwell and it reacts just like iron fallout remover. Dipped my wheel brush in the leftover car shampoo and the wheel cleaner continued to foam up as I cleaned. Can’t believe I had it for a couple of years now and only just used it but it’ll be my go to from now on.

never really understood have on the shelf "Citrus pre wash", "Traffic Film Remover" and "snow Foam"

if your going to use say "citrus pre wash" what's the point of the other 2 then ?

i snow foam my car, but some people, like your self, use citrus pre wash

its a little confusing

that came off easy, has it got a coating on ?

and its changed colour, blue before lol
Not yet but 400miles old and I’m sure they put something lightweight on as part of the PDI.

White cars don’t half show the dirt this time of year!

That was a perfect opportunity for a 50/50 - Citrus Wash vs Water alone :p

Yeah good point this was a super quick rinse over so I’ll try that next time. I seem to get cars in winter to makes it a pain to get protection on early.

I’ll be getting that after my current supply of BH is used up.

Still too frozen here to even attempt a car wash. Not sure it’ll thaw out enough tomorrow either.
I had BH Auto Foam, and replaced with Touchless, they're pretty similar tbh, I think TL is a bit better but there's not a lot in it.

It's too cold here too, I'm itching to clean it, the back looks utterly filthy, but I know if I do I know it'll be dirty again a few days later.

Nah, there is altogether far too much salt and other grit and grim on my car for me to even consider waterless wash.

It was paint corrected last year.
