Yeah this is what I was doing but didn't seem to remove marks (could only see them at certain angles)

Are you sure it’s sap and not iron fallout?

It could be the latter, as they’re similar in appearance but not removed by clay always.

Bilt Hamber do something called Korrosol, or Autoglym Magma from Halfords should do a similar job.

Im not entirely sure mate to be honest, thanks I had a look for both and autoglym one available on amazon. I have a similar wheel cleaner but I'm not sure if it's OK on paintwork so will just buy the autoglym one..

Anyone know if a harsh pad on a polisher will buff this out please? Had 2 new front tyres today but sadly the fitter was careless & must have hit it with the torque wrench he used to tighten the nuts up with :( what's done is done...these were brand new only 13 days & cost £2.2K...now I have to get this one repaired!

Weird thing is I tried a 3000 grit wet paper on it it did not touch the mark....does this mean it was not strong enough or something else is going on as I thought if I used light wet paper it would at least show some signs of going down to the base metal but nothing whatsover which is weird!

Just torn between trying to get some touch up paint, get a mobile diamond cut specialist see if they can do it or just buy another new wheel  (out of stock though right now I got the last 4!) or get all 4 painted black on the diamond cut part to paint the damage out :(

To be honest, if the Megane is your daily driver, you won't be able to keep it in the kind of condition you want. I have tried and it can't really be done if a car is used regularly on our roads.

Don't go spending thousands on things like new wheels to fix minor marks that nobody will ever notice.

Enjoy it.

Appreciate your insight mate but I notice it though! My last set of Interlagos diamond cut alloys I managed to keep pristine for 14 months until a pot hole nicked the side of one. Now 13 days is all I got from the replacements...ggrrrr all because the tyre fitter was careless.....!

Agree with both above - try not to expect pristine wheels for years, but also that's 100% the fitter's fault. Scratching brand new wheels, not just new-ish - as a professional, you **** it, you fix it.

On the subject of sanding - 3000 grit will not be removing any material at all. It's for making microscopic scratches even more microscopic. If you look at the diamond cut surface that is, in itself, equivalent to something like 240 grit paper. Those swirls in the finish are just very neatly arranged scratches after all. 800 grit paper wouldn't take out scratches beyond the width of a hair, so 3000 is just stroking the surface. Sorry to say it - those dents are dents not little scratches.

They are smooth though not raised at all I expected it to be raised but its totally smooth so wondering if my buffing machine and a scotch pad will buff them away or not ?

Go back to the fitter and tell them to sort it
Hmm it might get the young lad the sack though do not really want to do that even though 100% his fault I have no way to prove it my word vs his.....! But they were not there the day before when I cleaned them...after he fitted the new alloys (the car did not move over night) they were there but I only noticed after he had driven off....! I think I just need to accept I will have to fix it even though I am really unhappy about it :(

To turn a frown upside down at least you do not need to worry about them getting damaged anymore. My freshly painted front bumper got a stone chip within a week.
My new Megane RS got several stone chips on the bonnet within 2 weeks of leaving the factory ......then the front windscreen got peppered a few times...seems to be impossible to keep a car clean even with PPF that only stops most damage nothing will 100% stop the damage except not driving it at all!

Thing is, metal is hard and won't be smoothed out by buffing the way paint is. Paint is slightly soft and small scratches can be removed by polishing as it softens and reshapes the surface. By all means try it but I wouldn't be hopeful :(

It appears that I have run out certain products and need to replace them. So wondering if there are any decent alternatives that I haven’t used before.

So I need some more snow foam, have enough left over for one more wash. I usually flip between Wax planets Eight below and BH autofoam.

Wheel cleaner/fallout remover. My default on this has been BH wheel cleaner. I usually clean the wheels with a combination of shampoo and a APC then give them mist of the wheel cleaner. So I usually make a bottle last a while.

Glass cleaner, this one I not usually fussed about I just usually buy what ever is on offer.

Finally I need to a new summer wax, I use Fuso coat over the winter months for it’s longer lasting protection and then move over to a more glossy wax in the summer. I ran out of my last pot of wax planets white noise. So thinking about a Carnauba or another Montan wax.

Anyone got any got recommendations?
