Yeah its a bit swirly in the right light, not terrible but I'd like to get it corrected. I think it's seen some supermarket car washes with its previous owner.

Tempted to get something like a DAS6 and give it a go myself, but tbh it's the time that's my issue.

It's a worthwhile investment as it makes quick work of corrections. You don't have to go to town doing multistage polishing every few months and you can do it in sections every few weeks.

I started machine polishing my clubman. I used Koch Chemie abrasives with scholl purple pads and sealed it with Adams graphene spray coating. I've only managed to do the roof and the back end so far, but I'm happy to take a few weekends to do it.




The black roof really came up well.

I have a DAS 6 I used on some older cars and it is fairly easy, if time consuming, however once you get all the bits, polishes and gubbins its possibly easier to pay a detailer. (depends if you will use it on other cars)

Yeah the time thing is my issue, I can't see me having the free time to dedicate to it. I'm also wondering as its not something I'll be doing a lot of so is it worth buying the kit? Just put the money towards a pro, who will likely be better and faster!

I have sworn by the Megs stuff for ages. It is mainly used as a lube for clay. As with anything, moving physical matter across your paint will result in swirls so I wouldn't use it for any heavy soiling. (Contradicting myself now) I use it personally for bird poo when it is unavoidable.

In a sense of a quick detailer, yes they're good. But many have been turned into spray waxes. I like a few. I use:

gyeon ceramic quick detailer
Tac systems shinee
Detail bug quick detailer (bargain for the money)

But they're literally that, details after wash to get rid of last imperfections/water spots and add some extra gloss/depth to paint, neither last long.

If you want a spray wax/sealant go elsewhere. Tac systems shinee is sold as spray wax but I found it to be just a great detailer with really good gloss. Lasts a week or two on the paint.

Anyone else get put off cleaning they're car if it's parked on the street, i try to wait for the quietest day so I don't have to keep moving out of the road. It's only a small street. Can't wait until we sort the front out and have run for both cars.
It's been months since it's been cleaned.

I used to deal with that when we lived in Croydon..was a pain but got over it. People there were blasting past as fast as they could for some reason too.

Yes . I also have to pull the hose through the house as I only have a rear faucet.

Which reminds me - I have a Q:
The metal - you can see it isn't quite clean. What's recommended?
Also the black trim around the windows has water marks that don't shift during a wash - I am going to try and BH Clay this weekend but is there anyone else with similar issues?

Koch Chemie Fse is great for dealing with watermarks on paint work. If the marks are properly etched in, you will probably need to polish it out with an abrasive.

Has anyone used Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray and managed to prevent it streaking after buffering?

I've been reading that a damp microfibre wiped over the panel after application and before buffering helps (will try it next time) and it's in the same vain as what i'm doing currently with a QD pass after buffering. But am i just being incredibly dense and applying it incorrectly (using bottle instructions) or is using a damp microfibre normal? Any other tips?

Oh really? Mine are 19" too, I read the 15ml bottle only does up to 17" rims.

Yep - in fact I generally find working on the car challenging because I feel very exposed between neighbours, passing locals and traffic. Once I'm out there it's usually ok and I even end up saying hello to neighbours more as I'm outside for ages! But getting up and out the door is a challenge.

I'm on a dead straight one way street too, so drivers tend to shoot past at well over 20 (which this entire neighbourhood is limited to).
