Some of the answers in this thread are err interesting. Do you really think a modified 9500 was the card that changed everything?
I remember that too. Just awesome when you consider the difference between the hardware accelerated version and what we'd had to put up with before (Quake, Doom etc).
Pretty impressive also when you could SLI 2 Voodoo 2 cards (with a Matrox Millenium 8MB graphics card) in Quake 2 and get 1024x768 resolution
That was the last time I had 3 graphics cards in my PC, and probably the only time.
