Every minute is a fight for survival against the terrors of the outside world – radiation, Super Mutants, and hostile mutated creatures. From Vault-Tec, America’s First Choice in Post Nuclear Simulation.

Story:

Vault 101 – Jewel of the Wastes. For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you’ve ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth.

Surely this has to be one of the most anticipated titles of the quarter, if not the year....

One chain of game stores is selling a ltd edition complete with statuette similar to the big daddy one which came with the bioshock game. Am tempted therefore to get that on PC and the collectors edition on 360.

**EDIT**

if you pre-order from another seperate gamestore, you receive a music cd and keyring of a vault boy - not a bad place to order the CE from then!

Duno, looks ok from vids but duno if id like it.

To anyone who has played the first 2 games, this really is going to be something special. Apparently tho, you do not need to know the lore or backstory from the previous games to enjoy this one.

While I love the look of this and hope its as good as the past games (I even like tactics), I still have my doubts and have my "Oblivion Mod" fears.

I'll buy it but i have my fears.

Have a lil faith... I reckon this will be good. Did you check the hands on preview at IGN in the 1st post?

Let's be fair - this has been in development for so darn long - it HAS to be something special cos they sure haven't gone outta their way to rush it out into the shops!

Getting this, for definite.

What's the difference between the collector's edition and the limited edition?

The Ltd Edition has the figurine much like the Big Daddy Figure of Bioshock when that came out. This version is ONLY available from 1 chain of stores.

The CE has the lunch box, bobble head, art book, making of DVD, etc

Didn't I hear somewhere about this game having over 100/1000s of different endings purely dependent upon your actions and interactions within the game?

never played or heard of the fallout games, but then again never really had a pc to run them, so what's other game is this like? is it online or out the box? FPS? i will check the links tonight as all blocked at work :(

what game would you say it's close to?

I will be damned and cursed for saying this but apparently its akin to a post-apocalyptic Oblivion. Altho they are trying their hardest to break away from that stereotype apparently.

:o i didnt know about fallout3 untill a mate said at work. What are the specs needed?

They refuse to comment on specs at this point - however, an educated guess would be... if you can get oblivion then use that as a template.

So is this just like Oblivion but set in a post-apocalyptic world?

kinda but comments like that can get oneself flamed by the fanatics lol! Basically you're looking at a post apocalyptic RPG that is rich in lore from the previous chapters.

Standalone this should be great fun.

Taken into context of the previous games should enable you to appreciate things on a whole different level.

To anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of embarking in the post apoc lands of america previously, it would be in your interest to - trust me ;)

**EDIT**

When I say kinda I mean that the similarities are:

- Both are RPGs
- Both allow you to choose whether to follow the main quests or basically free-roam the landscape
- Both are open world environments to explore
- Both are by the same developer

TBH i do think that this is gonna be something special. The reason for this is:

- It already has a great backstory/lore established.
- Threre will be new downloadable content released.
- If it follows suit of Oblivion - imagine the amount of mods!!!!!!!!!!!
- The single player will offer sooo many different endings that re-playability genuinely should be achievable unlike many previous games that offer multiple alternate endings.
