The current strength of the British pound

And assuming your taking £2000 does your holiday really rest upon £300-400?

In 2003 the rate was $1.5=£1.

I remember that and i thought that was pretty good then !

Judging by that alone you can tell Bush have driven the US economy down a tad !

Well since they didn't jack down the prices when the dollar was weak, surely they won't be jacking up prices now ... surely? :p

I believe that the one UK supplier will probably put them up if it costs them more to import, but eh, we'll see :p

Interesting hedge - you think the only way is down between now and then?

not sure tbh, I'm no expert, its just that the downward trend seems to have momentum and there seems more scope for bigger downside moves than upside, not claiming to be any expert at all though

The Euro is getting naff.

I got €1.22 to the £ 3 weeks ago before we went to France. It is getting worse over there. Cigarettes are now roughly the same price as they are here although Tobacco is still relatively cheap compared to the UK.

Clothes were expensive even for the crappy French branded stuff and don't even go there if you wanted Levi's or branded Sports gear. Beer was around €2.20 (£1.80) for a 25cl glass.

Going to US in November, ordered currency today at $1.735

I'm going in November too and am contemplating the same thing. What really gets me is how fast it's gone down, i've been out of the country for almost 6 weeks and when I left it was still floating at near $2 to the pound. I ony hope it doesn't go down much more before I get back!
