The Darkness II

anyone played this yet then? its released on steam now!

im tempted!

let us know if its worth it or not as i never got around to playing the demo.

I got my pre-order a couple of days back, just got around to installing it now. Thought I would check here for comments while it was installing lol. Shocked no one has posted anything about it yet tbh.

I have installed and playing now. I didn't play the 1st but this works quite nicely with my 360 pad. I do prefer to play with mouse and keys though.
Game looks good and after an hour of playing I can see this being a good game if not a little repetitive.

Well for some reason MSI will not display on the screen, seems a good port, I have it maxed out with V-Sync off, not tried it on and it is as smooth as butter. Looks great imo, it does have that stupid thing that Bioshock 2 had when right mouse button would shoot the left weapon and left mouse button would shoot the right weapon. But it has a southpaw setting which I guess reverses this so left shoots left.

I honestly have no idea where the praise for the first game comes from.

The concept and story are great and some of the gameplay mechanics are neat too, but the actual gameplay was terrible! No strategy to the game at all. All the 'cool' demon stuff you could do was almost entirely pointless, then you got the darkness guns and played the rest of the game on god mode.

hehe, but I am sure the same can be said for games you like. If we all liked the same stuff it would be a very boring world indeed.

It would and I appreciate that taste has a lot to do with things, but pretty objectively, there was no strategy to that game. The enemies never got harder and the whole game was:

"ignore everyone, shoot out the lights, retreat to a shadow, throw a black hole"

And the submissions 'go to a boat and stop a shipment', 'burn some money' and 'protect your aunt' just seemed like paddding. The good sections of the game were the two sections when you went inside the darkness' mind.

Stylisticly, it was fantastic, but I couldn't recommend it.

Just played this for the first time, played some multiplayer. Never played darkness 1 so went in with no expecations.

Its a pretty decent game, I'd play single player first as the magic side I didn't understand at all at first. And having to destroy hearts to reload weapons didn't make sense to me but its probably explained in single player.

If you have no clue what this game is about then gameplay is like left 4 dead campaign mode, but instead of just one level you have a series of connecting levels...its like one long continuous l4d campaign.

The graphics I heard were fantastic but they do nothing for me, they just dont impress me and I've never enjoyed cell shading. But I have seen cell shaded games that do impress me like Okami and Jet Set Radio, but this didn't impress me much.

I played as some girl, really reccomend playing as her because the gun she has is very good.

In short, if you like left 4 dead this game is for YOU, and if you like the look of cell shading then you will also like the way it looks.

I think its better than Dead Island but I've only had a small taste of the game.

Ah and about the FOV - it is horrible as people have been saying. But there is a fix now for that now afaik.

Wait a minute you eat hearts to regain health;)

Just started playing this completely forgot about it. Loved the First one back on PS3 didn't even realise that was console exclusive.
So far am really enjoying it what an opening too the game also :D

I loved the first one as well. Quite a surreal experience at times.

I also enjoyed the second quite a lot, though perhaps not quite as much.
