The Darkness

Just bought this game, hopefully it will come tomorrow. The IGN video review atracted me to it, looked very fun although the commentry guy was slating the game as he was talking about it.

Need some help with a side mission if possible! Killing the people Vinny is telling me too (towards the end of the game side mission) and I'm to kill a guy in Gun Hill who should be on "higher ground" any idea where he is?

Walk forwards to where you originally go to shrotes apartment, before you go into the section where the door is (as you turn the corner) use your crawling dark to go up the wall and through a window to your right. There's a costume in there too I believe.

I can't even seem to get as far as Shrotes apartment! All doors are locked it seems, I'm just walking around on the outside looking for a door!

I am on about outside. It's in the alley.
From the underground keep walking around (past the guy at the gate smoking) and I believe you turn left (at that guy) then right. As you turn right, its up through a window up there.

Right so in the alleys I'm searching for a window to go through? I've never seen a guy smoking thats all.

The only room I can get in is one that I have entered previously (guy lying dead on the floor) and there's some stairs leading upstairs to a door which is locked.

Thanks

I'm another one who enjoyed the trenches.....I thought it was quite an atmospheric part of the game

Yeah I'm loving that level. This game is a real gem. Keep telling myself, just one more checkpoint :)

I've had a 360 for 18 months or so now and it's gone largely unused as most of its big releases have also made it to pc which is my preferred platform, having followed this thread though I decided to give the Darkness a go and I'm really glad I did!

Gameplay is just so satisfying, reasonably easy to pick up and play but not so easy to master.

Extremely atmospheric and very spooky at times, really nice music too, ranging from ambient melodys to hard rock in some action sequences.

Voice acting is superb and sofar the story has kept me enthralled,A1 entertainment imo!

How long does it take to complete this game when just playing casually?

I found it lasted 15-20 hours when taking afew goes at it. I imagine you could race through it in 10 if you rushed it. Great game well worth getting :)

I'm normally the kinda person who gets a game and eats through it in a day or so, then next!

This game pulls you into the story so much I've found myself listening to all the cutscenes and doing all the side missions etc.

So much in this game to keep you hooked. Some of the collectables are in really obscure places that you wouldnt find in a million years without a guide.

Judging by how far i've got so far I reckon the game will take me about 15 hours to complete, but mainly thats because I've struggled to find collectables.

I got this yesterday started playing around 8.30 last night and ended up going to bed at 3am - not had a game thats kept me up till that late for quite a while :)

Has anyone got a more detailed description of the achievements? Ghandi for example..

If I start the game again will my achievements continue..?

Ghandi is easy, just don't have a weapon armed when you go to see Dutch Oven Harry.
When you walk in with a weapon down, talk to the guy sat on the stool (who answers his phone) and you get the achievement. Then blow everyone away.

Andy, you're probably best just finishing the game and starting again, especially if you're some way off the cannibal or darkness master achievements :).

Also, if you're playing in Hard and you play multiplayer in between your campaign the difficulty drops down to 'Medium' and you won't get the hard achievement :p.

A good guide is here: Kleek Meee

Well just finished, superb game. These guys should be chained to there desks and forced to make more games, first the superb Chronicles of Riddick now this :)

They are making another game, a remake of Chronicles of Riddick. I'll definitely be getting that even though I have CoR on the Xbox, which I found in a packing box 2 days ago :p.
