If you think liking Chubby Brown automatically makes you a racist then you are being overly simplistic.

There’s many different facets to a human being. You can like someone but still disagree on things. Life is not black and white like that. Frankie Boyle has joked about disabled people. Because I laughed and like to watch him, does that mean I hate the disabled?

The funny thing is I thought life was all about choices and options. If one didn't like something they went somewhere else or didn't give them their money. Now we're fast approaching (or we're already there) lets destroy someone or a company via a mob because we don't like it and ruin your name and reputation. Then nobody has the choice. Sometimes at times it looks as if we're not far away from thought police. "We'll stone you because we think and assume you're wrong."

As for this guy in topic, I don't ever remember watching him. Nor do I remember what his comedy shows or whatever was like. I always remember him in psychedelic clothes thinking he was trying to be a 5 year old with a helicopter hat and thinking, nutcase. At least Ken Dodd was both funny to look at and genuinely funny with his whacky hair and outfits.

Be as nice as you like, the fact remains you’ve made a sweeping accusation against thousands of people based on a bloody comedian they laugh at. Apparently, me, my brother and my parents are all sick puppies because we laugh at RCB, when in fact, we’re a nice regular family who has never done wrong to anyone.

I must admit though, I admire your stance on not backing down, especially as you’re a Frenchman. How’s that for a sweeping statement?

wtf are you talking about? The issue of tolerance came up, for which the paradox is tolerance is famous, the Nazis got bought up as an example of those intolerant in that context, and someone replied to me about the rise of the Nazis, and I replied to them.

How is that me comparing RCB to Nazis? Do you not understand the basic flow of conversation?

Jokes about race, women and in laws have been considered funny for decades, and will continue to be so considered, despite the attempts to politically correct humour.
 
chubby brown was just filth, didn't find him funny at all, but if some people do and want to see him then whatever.

That's kinda what I was trying to say... The old school stand ups like Roy chubby brown modus operandi is just tired and embaracing.
It's just cheap humour compared to intelligent comics like Billy connolly etc.
I imagine Jimmy cars and frankie boyles more extreme stuff will age just as badly.
When comedians rely on shock value rather than genuinely funny and astute comedy it's just lazy if you ask me.

jimmy carr is funny without shock value though imo, it's not like he's a one trick pony

I like Jimmy and a bit of micky flannagan, I think flannagan is just good at telling a story though and not exactly funny, wears thin if I watch too much of him.

do people think the era of huge comedians is over and none will be mega stars, seems like audiences are spread out these days on the internet between so many different people.

I don't see a big world star type managing to emerge and gain a majority fan base

Tbh, that’s why my favourite will always be Ken Dodd. Didn’t need to swear or be crude, never sexist or racist or did anything to offend anyone. Very family friendly, yet utterly hilarious for decades upon decades. And you always got your money’s worth with Ken, if a show started at 8, you’d be lucky to get out by midnight. He just lived to make people smile.

When there is too much to say,
it is easier to say nothing at all.
 
You don't have to like a comedian or find his comedy funny, it's not at all relevant to the issue, jokes and comedy don't even have to be funny, but they do have to be allowed. Does the council go through such stringent checks on every act performing? I bet not. The only reason they banned him is because they're worried about some potential backlash that affects them for not banning him. They're spineless cowards collecting a paycheck for doing **** all like most of their ilk.
