Well he decided who was to live or die
And that in no way has a bearing on what's acceptable for us a society to do.
why does that scum deserve to live.
That is not the question we answer. The question is why does he deserve to die. We would not be deciding to keep him alive - we would be deciding to kill him.

Why does he deserve to die? What will it achieve?

I find it a bit peculiar anyone would find satisfaction in any part of that story, from the sorry, hideous, awful crime to people wreaking revenge and basically saying its ok to be the guy as long as you are on the side of the state and are doing it to someone who has done the same thing. I think that's a sad mess and a mockery of the justice system myself.

Its justice.

Revenge isnt always a bad thing?

We do though, everyday.

Well, I should have worded better - I've just replied again and explained a little bit better.

We don't decide that a killer/rapist/whatever should live. The death penalty is a decision to kill them. If it was a decision to keep them alive then I may say no. I think? I'm not sure. But for a decision to kill them, then no I don't see a benefit.

I dont belive in rehabilitation for people who kill, they don't deserve a second chance. Kill them all.

There's no point trying to discuss this with you if you're just going to blurt out Daily Mail nonsense. You've not attempted to answer any questions or confront any of the problems presented. I deduce that either you have the mental age of a 4 year old - or you're not trying to discuss it properly. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and suggest you could try harder.

Even if it's 100% certain that the defendant is guilty, I'm against both jail and the death penalty. Instead, send them to exile. Somewhere where they can live, grow their own crops and buildings etc without taxpayers' money except for the initial trip to the island and for routine checks. They would be all tagged.

If it eases the pain of the victims family, and if the crime is severe enough...

Isn't it? I have not seen much in reality that made it look all that great to be honest.

Lots of appalling hideous things get justified on the grounds of revenge and justice and the result looks just about the same to me.

I think there is a difference between justice and doing what someone else has done and calling it right because the state says its right. That just feels wrong to me.

...its often advocated by people who have an unhealthy predilection for suffering
They should put an ad out for public executioners and section everyone who applies. There is something fundamentally wrong with a person who salivates over thoughts of torturing or killing a defenceless human being.

Getting rid of the scum isnt enough for you?

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and that is mine, scumbags like that deserve nothing.

So if a man kills a familys children, your saying he doesnt deserve to be killed in return?

That's quite clearly what people are saying.

You're either a troll, or insane. Get yourself checked out, or kill yourself before you end up going on a rampage. It's what you're advocating after all, why not save people the suffering?

You may be entitled to an opinion, but that doesn't make it of any value. You're ignoring evidence and facts, using nothing but rhetoric and emotion to justify your need to kill people.

People who support the death penalty either suffer from lamentable ignorance (which is something to be remedied through education) or there must be something wrong with them. Insanity, tumour, abuse, social dysfunction, whatever.
