It always strikes me that many of the complicated theories about things that people come up with are ultimately probably a coping mechanism, as it's reassuring to be able to think "this must have been planned" as opposed to "this could have happened to me so many times", especially when it involves something you do on a regular basis such as walking/playing near water or even just driving.As has been said a few times in the thread, too many folk who have watched too many episodes of Broadchurch, Happy Valley, Vera etc and are now firmly convinced that every crime has been perpetrated by some Machiavellian Moriarty-esque criminal genius relative![]()
My mum used to go along a canal footpath in her mobility scooter and my sister was always "what if someone pushes you in" and "don't do it when it gets dark", I was always much more concerned that all it would have taken was a seconds lapse in concentration/not paying attention whilst say moving to the side to let someone past for her to end up in the water, as I knew which was far more likely.
