*** The Division Thread 2.0 ***

so is this just still a rinse and repeat grind, or is there some more story in it now?

lvl 1 through 30 there is still a story, especially if you focus on all the collectible items around the map like mobile phone recordings, drones, missing agent reports etc - these tell the story quite well.

Also 1 through 30 is linear progression so the NPC's go up to match you and so on so its good to do solo or in a group.

Post lvl 30 in 1.3 - it is 100% a grindfest which a lot of people still find fun if you like to make builds and so on but a group is required for a lot of the content, and they need to be co ordinated.

Post lvl 30 in 1.4 however, everything is possible solo.

Logged in and played for 40 mins last night, outside and inside DZ. max level and i think level 42 in DZ. second pick up drop in DZ and 3 guys came out of nowhere, killed me and stole the gear.

Sighed, logged off.

Might get some time and try the missions, doubt i'll bother with the DLC though.

1.4 you can farm the open world named bosses outside the DZ :)

Having done that daily in week 4 I admit that is mind-numbing and boring now too for me. There needs to be something out there other than repetition; what's the point of grinding to so the same things over and over again?

One more evening of 1.3 farming tonight and that's me done until the patch drops (31 October I'd say, much, much too late!).

This is largely my DZ experience too - I have very little interest in being repeatedly ganked by super-levelled players. Which is why I'm delighted (and you should be too) about the open world changes and the amount of (max level!) loot you can get without setting foot in the DZ.

Doing the same thing daily is boring.

Grinding the same thing over and over.

Anyone else seeing the problem here? Just do other stuff :)

indeed. bit of Open World, bit of HVT, bit of DZ (the new banshee set where you can not lose XP/creds will be my friend), bit of incursions, bit of underground, hopefully survival before the end of the year..

There is no real content after finishing the main story line. However, there are other games, which I'll turn to after tonight's grind and I'll see where my mind is at when 1.4 comes crawling in - Watch Dogs 2 is around the corner too :D

In my opinion they should take the random dungeon idea of Underground and expand upon it.

Have randomised dungeons that are underground and overground each with an objective, rescue prisoners, eliminate HVT, Take out Radar / comms etc, put down xx members of gang, all culminating with a large boss fight at the end, something getting close to the incursion level of difficulty.

For example your random mission sends you to infiltrate and take out a Gun nest ontop of an apartment block. 2 ways in, either via the front door and a mass of mobs then up the stairs of the apartment block and out onto the roof, or via a sewer tunnel into the basement and upstairs etc.

Once your ontop you have to take out the guards and the boss guy running the show uptop, then you place the explosives and defend them, then make your exit down the building and collect your hard won loot.

Now if you used the UG system to randomise the type of mobs, underground / overground portions, types of bosses (NPC's, Tanks, Helicopters, Mortar positions, Machine Gun nests etc) and allowed people to customise it kinda like UG adding difficulty mods, maybe even have 2 bosses in a fight (Tank and a Helicopter etc) that would add a lot of randomness to the content and make it feel fresh.

UG is kinda like Rifts in D3, i think its done pretty well, but if they can bring it overland, and add more types of encounters to it, and then let you customise the level of difficulty etc i think they would be on to a winner.

Especially as this would give them an avenue to just add more npc factions and boss types along the way, they could go down the whole season route like D3 has and add periods where specific drops are available and whatnot.

That would be cool!

UG can still be challenging due to the "unknown" element of what you will come up against and the order of the maps, direction you go into them etc but the one thing that isn't random enough is the end bosses.

The UG system in terms of directives would work well for incursions as well I think!

I cant wait for 1.4 to drop, will be sinking a lot of hours into it min maxxing - which is my favourite aspect of this game for sure. Already have 1100 hours so far

UG in 1.3 is actually quite fun tbh.

Even with proper teamwork you will still get screwed up because u could never expect where (unless you've played as much as we do...) and what is gonna spawn.

Those moments when we panick because theres a flamer walking in the corridor in the middle of thr UG lol

Yeah i cant wait for 1.4, i liked the outdoor world, and liked the idea of being able to roam around it getting upgrades rather than the DZ.

UG was fun but the drops were awful in most part for me, mind you i never got very far into it.

I think the UG system tho as a whole is a really good idea, i just think they could really build and enhance on it as above, if they actually made them like mini raids, where you could choose the length like in UG, so say i choose one with 5 lengths, at the end of the first 4 sections could be something you need to accomplish, like defeat xx waves of mobs, take out a mini boss, blow up a tank etc, all sorts of stuff, culminating in the big bad boss at the end of section 5, or even bosses etc.

If you let players define the way they want to play and enable them to do so by providing the jigsaw pieces that fit together to do it, you will be onto a winner, especially then your upkeep becomes adding new jigsaw pieces, swapping in and out favourites etc.

In an ARPG variety is the one thing that will keep your game moving forward, the minute you sit on old content people get bored and leave.

:D I love UG in 1.3, it still requires concentration and team work for sure!

Damn grenadiers!!!

Love it, would just be expanding on an already proven method!

I would absolutely love to do a 5 section UG with some elements from incursions etc as well.

Tbh they should also open up UG to larger party sizes, make them like mini raids where you can have upto 8 people or something.

Well. The majority will then cry about why they make contents intended for grps lol

Omg wow! Massive group activities would be amazing! I think the UG model could really open up roles as well if it had large parties and more customisation.

All they need to do is scale it correctly and give the appropriate reward and it should keep everyone happy. Which will never happen of course, people hate everything lol!
