Yesterday, in my infinite wisdom, I sold 2 pairs of AB gloves - which I need to maintain the build in 1.4 *cringe* oops! Will be on the lookout tonight ha ha!

Working Tue eve, just my luck eh?

Format: Best of three, double elimination
Time and Date: 30th October @ 8pm
***********************************
Following on from the fun of the first 1v1 tournament we did in week 4 of the PTS for The Division, we are wanting to setup another one in the live 1.4 update!!

This week is all about gearsets, future tournaments we will look at unique ideas like HE only and different locations :)
***********************************
Rules
  • No skills except overheal/booster shot and the other healing skills in that category
  • No ultimates
  • No secondary skills like turrets/pulse/seeker balls etc
  • No intervention from team members(pulse and so on)
  • Ultimates, even accidental will get you a DQ
  • Sticky bomb will mark the start of the fight
  • Best of three per round - gear swapping is allowed between rounds
  • Side swapping after each round is mandatory to prevent OP locations ;)
  • No camping - cover is allowed at some points but not for prolonged periods of time
***********************************
Location
TBC - pictures will be posted on the Challonge website page however closer to the time.
***********************************
Setup on the day

If you aren't on my friends list - add me during the week if you have signed up - Uplay ID is GAM8LE_

Or /w me in game around that time: /w GAM8LE_

In addition, please go to the following discord link so we can all get in the same voice chat channels etc :) If you don't have discord, please message me so we can all use proximity chat within the game as well.

Discord Link: https://discord.gg/AJ7mG2w

The whole tournament will be viewable on twitch @ https://www.twitch.tv/gam8le

A few ideas have been submitted for the future as well like timed missions, incursions, HE 1v1's etc so the aim is to do this a few times a month for something different and a bit of fun :)

An UG run with randoms, took way too long but hey, I got a ticket my very first LVAO-C with vicious (meh), provident (ugh), destructive (yeeh). A god roll pred vest too - which I don't need.

@ Tek, when you receive an invitation from an insect do accept :)

Any ideas on good builds for 1.4? not really kept up with the pts stuff.

PVE:
Strikers
Preds
Nomad
Sentry and hunters

So many combos

All with a 2pc of nomad

Or:
3 pc banshee +
3 pc lonestar
3 pc pred

:)

PVP - the meta seems to be going toward firecrest which is too easily counterable so sort of the same as above (minus strikers)

Preds is OP - but aim for armor on any build you do

I'm gonna run 3 Banshee + 3 Lone Star with an LMG+Shotgun for the extra damage. Worked out well in the PTS :)

For my fun build I ran 3 Firecrest + 3 Tac Auth with a 155k Skillpower along with cluster mines and a turret of DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!! Good fun that :D

My previous reply was useless... will break it down again:

PVE:
Basically everything is good for PVE due to the lower TTK but a few good combinations are below:

  • 3 Lonestar, 3 banshee with LMG's
  • 3 Preds, 3 Banshee with an AR
  • 3 Hunters faith, 3 Sentry - focus is on HS damage so MMR's will benefit.
  • Strikers 4 pc
  • Alphabridge
  • Firecrest

The banshee build probably produces the highest damage per bullet with the exception of the HF and sentry combo and this is due to how out of cover calculates the damage. So OOC on a weapon, with OOC as the 3 pc from banshee it stacks OOC. Also good for PVP.

Same idea for preds and banshee but without OOC from a weapon. I preferred my preds and banshee build as I prefer AR's.

Alphabridge is super strong as well still with good talents, but for the remaining two pieces I would recommend Specialised backpack and savage gloves/vig chest. This is good for PVE and PVP, but due to ammo requirements it may be best to keep it for PVP only.

Firecrest is probably the best CC build in the game right now and can generate a 15% damage increase when targets are on fire so for PVE - especially large mobs - it is amazing.

PVP is also good if the other team isn't running immuniser but due to the amount of people running Firecrest - a lot of people will be running immuniser lol Im going to build to a support station build as a counter infact.

Lots and lots of combinations are viable now - but the above is a good start. For an all rounder build as well, could do a 3,2,1 with 3 Preds, 2 Nomad, and savage gloves/specialised backpack or some other HE

You get a good flat damage increase with preds on an AR, Nomad will give you health on kill, then the HE just brings a talent of your chosing.

Nice breakdown thanks, I like the look of this, will probably run 4 of those skipping lone star as i dont like lmgs too much. Strikers - have they done something with the 4 piece?, used to drop off too much for my liking before.

What about tac/rec builds?

I'm going to have a lot of gear swapping/crafting to do methinks :)

Sorry I should have mentioned they were just DPS orientated builds.

Tacticians as a 4 piece has been gutted unfortunately:

Tactician’s Authority
2 pieces: +10% Skill Haste
3 pieces: +10% Skill Power
4 pieces: Every bullet you and your group lands on a hostile adds 0.2% skill power to you for a max of 30% bonus. Bonus lasts for 10 seconds of not beeing refreshed or 10 seconds of beeing at max

So isn't too feasible as support anymore :( the 2 pc is OK if you want to spec into that but overall - it seems it wont be viable.

Reclaimer is still cool however:
2 pieces: +50% Consumable duration
3 pieces: +50% Support Station duration
4 pieces: Consumables and special ammo used now apply to the whole group and are not consumed on use. Triggers consumable cooldowns and cannot start consumables that are on cooldown.

The 3 pc is useless though, should have been radius or healing speed but the consumable part is still very good.

Strikers is as follows:
Striker’s Battlegear
2 pieces: +20% Stability
3 pieces: +10% armor damage
4 pieces: Every consecutive hit deals 1% more damage. Stacks up to 100%. Missing shots drops bonus by 2%. Bonus is reduced by 1% every second

So the 4 pc remains, but the 2pc assists in getting more hits so its good now :)

In terms of feeling tanky and strong, focus on armour. Cap is 70%, max armour on gear and mods can get you just over 60% which is most people will have.

Chest/Knees/Backpack/Holster and gear mods and then, now with the lower TTK, use the talent on the move. Gives damage buff when killing an enemy whilst moving.

Robust chest and sturdy holster have armour giving talents which were never viable before.

With PvE you'll probably get away with 52/53% armor with decent stamina level, but for PvP def push it as close to 70% as you can. Then rely on your GS talents to inflict damage. I will be doing just that!! ;)

I wonder what the best PvE sniper build is: AlphaBridge (with the right talents on both snipers) or Sentry's (how does aiming accuracy, the two piece, work?) & Hunter's Faith. I've got a ridiculous amount of build ideas I am going to try.

Edit: it's gotta be that 3 & 3 build with the rifles modded for headshot damage. Those on the business end of my snipers will not be happy :) what sort of gear mods would one put in such a build?

Tonight I extracted from the DZ a beautiful SRS A1 sniper rifle with brutal in 1st and coolheaded in the 3rd slot (it doesn't provide damage but no one in its right mind would roll off that free talent). The 2nd slot will be rerolled to whatever else is excellent for PvE (maybe responsive, or destructive). Depending on which, can I try it out on your head Gamble, for auld lang syne?

I need to run CS tomorrow, need HF gloves, multiple ones.

Yeah I can be the test subject lol!

3 HF and 3 Sentry is the best PVE/PVP sniper set in 1.4 due to the headshot damage. So x12 scope, and suppressor with HS damage would be good.

Then DTE and EAD on gear will bring down a boss in one shot with tactical advance on top :) Or close to it anyway

So many options, so many builds feasible, cannot wait.

Great! Could you then crawl around for a minute for my amusement? Too far? :p

Okay will make that build! Need more HF. And I have 0 Sentry's ha ha! No problem. What sort of gear mods should be best for this? Armor I reckon. And what sort of performance mods? Getting gloves with MMR, DTE & EAD will be interesting to obtain.

I picked up a large suppressor FDE from the DZ as well (the one I wanted to give Rad but it wasn't sharable).

I will also need a heavy magazine (= RoF in 1.4) - I don't care for mag size (7 on this model) because I want to unleash as many bullets as quick as possible because it's a bolt action.

I will put a station down lol Or run Nomad for it :D

Im not sure about the performance mods anymore to be honest but I think the easiest thing to do would be to consider what skills you want to run, and then spec into perf mods that have the biggest impact on those skills.

eg, I can get 15% additional seeker mine damage which is good if I have only 75-90k SP, but if my SP is higher, then I should spec into explosion radius.

Or if I don't have good enough perf mods for a non healing skill, will spec into self first aid heal as everyone still uses it.

But for sentry/hf.....I would maybe say a seeker mine radius as you could then use gas to stop NPC's from moving as much allowing MMR time.

For PVE, you could get away with either, rolling armour onto every piece and then using your mod slots for stuff that doesn't include armour, or, roll armour on every piece bar 2, and then use mods to bring that armour up to around 53-55%. Maybe a bit less.

I would maybe go with the latter as it means you could utilise lots of options. DTE/EAD/CHD/PFE/HOK/SP etc on a backpack or chest.

I was running about with 60% armour, 6.5k FA and like 200k toughness and the armour kept me going lol against NPC's - not players.

EDIT: This was my first test of that build, I didn't quite have the right stuff but that damage on the player equated to 850,000 damage on an NPC on the first shot. Taking as PVP damage / 0.16.

Thanks for the elaborate reply, that gives me some idea!

On the PTS I ran both my FireCrest and Predator's Mark with a flame turret with mods for turret dmg and turret health (something I found, dmg being the better and obvious choice).

My gear is all over the place, I've not really put any thought into it and just swapped out for the highest I can get each time. I've put a few hours into the game this weekend again, but I just can't grind at it and find myself thinking "why am i playing this". Are there any plans to release the DLC's for free down the line? £12 seems a little steep for what I am betting not a lot of content.

you have just defined the single biggest problem with the current version of this game - solo play, and the fact you need the gear in order to do content, to get better gear!

Based on your current build, I would honestly wait till Tuesday and work on it then. Everything will be much more attainable, and harder content is now more realistic for solo play due to new scaling, AI characteristics and world tier system

Off the bat though - I can see you are missing armour on chest and holster which would help with toughness and that is a defining build style in 1.4 - armour armour armour to the point you are roughly 50-55% on armour mitigation(for PVE, not PVP as that will require more)
*****************************
To help with 1.4 though the below would be the sort of build stats you would aim for (in terms of FA/Stam/Elec) for a balanced build that also helps with solo play: (don't compare these screenies to 1.3 though)

3,2,1 setup:
hy4KIpkh.jpg

4,2 setup
WFn1TFDh.jpg

So on both of these builds there is a trend. Around 4k FA, 5.5k stam and 2k electronics.

Armour is rolled on chest, knees, backpack and holster. Gear mods have armour on them as well.

These two builds pulled me through the DZ at all levels, CM missions, CM UG, and the hardest weekly HVT - Solo!

If I was in a group - I wouldn't utilise Nomad as HoK isn't as necessary but I was able to do all the above without Nomad as well - in the PTS each week including the last.

In addition, get yourself over to discord :) We have members who don't use mics and regularly have dudes kicking about willing to group up. Some are coming back, some have been here throughout the games existence:

https://discord.gg/3ntfsm6

LFG or just advice, we are always online lol

Finally, in regards to the DLC - up until now they have gone about it in the wrong way in terms of sticking content onto a broken core experience but now, with the changes the UG is now more fun which was their first DLC. Survival is coming before the end of the year and I believe that it will be a big success considering they are putting this on top of a working, balanced core gameplay experience.

But I agree, in 1.3 I simple didn't do the UG unless I knew I had a group from this forum as even with experienced people, with min maxxed optimised builds - the hardest difficulty can still wreck you in an instant.
