The do I or don't I, go to work thread

If it really comes down tonight and the Manta won't move, I might try cycling in. It's about 7 miles so doable :)

The only problem about driving to work when its ****** weather is for me not the risk of sitting in traffic, but being hit by some clueless see you next tuesday who hasnt the faintest idea about braking distances in the snow and in my case loosing the car because it wasn't of great value and basically getting totally mugged off!

To take the risk or not?

Went out on my bike in this last bought of bad weather and came straight off as I got off the pavement in front of my drive way.

So if you feel the need to cycle then feel free, I however do not :p

I try and cycle around 8 miles per day but for the last two weeks I haven't been.

I was working nights last night, on my way at about 7pm it started really badly and continued all night.

1 person turned up on time but not in my team,

The drive home wasn't too bad as the main roads are ok, if a little slow. But to get back to work this evening I need to get back on the main road. from my very snowy side street.

I'm not sure how bad it is but after having to wait at work an extra hour to be relieved and spending 2 hours getting home after a 12 hour shift and before the nect one and thus little sleep I am inclined to work from home this evening.

I will have a shower and see if it perks me up.

We've had snow here but not so bad, for me at least, that it would prevent me travelling to work. That said, found out today that last day before the crimbo break a guy that stays five minutes from me and travels EXACTLY the same route didnt bother going in until 11 o'clock ( start time for him was 7.40 am ) as the 'roads looked dodgy'. I made it in fine that day and it was still dishing out small flurries of snow when I had travelled at 6.00am.

Some people, eh?

Tho when you see some of the conditions out there I can understand some folks not wanting to take the risk.

Anyway, stay safe folks!!

Was supposed to be in class for 9:00.
So i thought lets get up a bit earlier and get the train.

Trains i waited on:
7:47 - Couldn't get physically on it
8:03 - Cancelled
8:19 - Arrived at 8:25 and couldn't get physically on it.
8:33 - Cancelled
8:47 - Showed up at 9:05 couldn't get on it.

Next train was supposedly 9:33, but i thought **** it im going home. So had an extended xmas break, yay me.

Will need to try even earlier tomorrow. NIGHTMARE!!!!!

Drive home was an eye opener - main roads fine but the steep hill out of the business park was obviously a bit treacherous, stayed in first and no matter what I did with the loud pedal it just trundled up at a few miles an hour. Felt wrong going so slowly but at least it was going.

Tried 2nd and it just stepped out so stuck with 1st. According to the Fiat forums the viscodrive lsd helps in that situation.

Roads round here aren't too bad, nothing someone who is determined and sensible enough can't drive through. My dad did get stuck in a lane and refused to let me or my brothers drive out, but let one of his friends do it, who proceeded to reverse the car until it got a run up, then drive at about 45mph (on ice that you couldn't walk on at all) up the lane, one handed while picking his nose, was pretty funny. I haven't got work until friday but I doubt the snow will affect that all we get here is pussy snow anyway about 1cm deep :(. Although I'm a bit affected with mobility as all I have that I can drive is a 125 motorbike and it hasn't seen the light of day for a couple of weeks.

everyone round here doing 10mph now.

Me, well the handbrake has been yanked at all available corners and much drifting and merriment has ensued.

Driving to work is now FUN. :D

As for you faggots that think its too dangerous. :p I hope you get frostbite. :D

My boss lives just round the corner from me; if he can get into work, so can I.

Despite the look of my car, it hasn't missed a beat all winter.

ill happily go to work if its snowing tomorrow.

but the boss has gotta take me! i certainly wont risk crashing or others crashing into my car which would cost more than a days pay so its not worth it.
