**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

Thats interesting Frapple, if so the EA version with 25% off code is a winner :) Although I'm not sure I trust EA to give the right answer.

Sure your not on some kind of weird russian proxy and are seeing something im not
Up untill about 9am they where listing both versions, now there is only the gimped "UK" edition.
Maybe you checked before then I'd guess.

EA in "We're a bunch of cocks" shocker.

Edit: Although wtf are you talking about? The Digital Delux (UK) has The Wicked Oath, Memory Band and Blood Dragon Armour. As well as the 2 DLCs.

£39.99 is too much for me though. I'll be pre-ordering the delux from elsewhere and worrying about the DLC later.

In fact, it looks like the additional £10 is for Wardens Keep.

Um. No thanks.

From this morning. Both Steam versions contain Wicked Oath, Memory band, Blood Dragon Armour and Stone Prisoner. The Deluxe also contains Wardens Keep.

But the international/US version of the DDE on steam has everything the UK version has except also with the 3 CE items (Bergen's Honor, Final Reason and The Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes) that the UK do not get.

If you look in the other EA thread, about the £5 games, theres a voucher for 25% off, making the EA dig deluxe £30 with the DLC and probably the best value one out there.

I doubt the EA deluxe version has the extra 3 items, it would seem clear the person who responded thought you meant the collectors edition and not the digital deluxe, but then, they might bundle the items anyway when it comes to it, who knows.

I can't see the game + DLC being any cheaper than £30 together elsewhere for a long time so, thats why I ordered while the voucher works.

If you absolutely positively have to get the CE version, go get it, it is sold in the UK, just one exclusive seller for the CE at £40, £10 less for the Dig version on EA store, you lose what 3 items, of which only one is permanent(as far as we know, maybe its a, bonus's for X hours of playtime thing).

Is it not just me but this isn't EA/Bioware screwing the uk, on price or availability, but stupid UK stores insisting on getting exclusives screwing other places, but then, now if you really want the CE they get your business.

Any new purchase of Dragon Age comes with The Stone Prisoner and Blood armour included.

So with Steam, the extra £5 goes towards being able to download whenever you like and the couple of extra ingame items. Which isn't as bad as their usual price hike over cheaper online shops. But yeah, EA with discount seems like the best deal if you want the Wardens Keep DLC.

Think I'm still going to go for a £24.99 boxed copy though or wherever it's cheapest. I just don't think it makes much sense to pay an extra £5 for a new area when the whole game is new to me. Especially if the reports of 100+ hours of gameplay are true.

The extra items are not included in my thoughts because they are almost completely irrelevant in an rpg with 100's of ingame items. Also if they are better than other ingame items then it would make the game easier, why would I want that?

It doesnt bother me about the loot, all i actually want to get is as much of the DLC in one package for the cheapest. I also want the box and disks.

How on earth would a store force a publisher to create new items just for them? I've never heard of that happening before. "Make us a new Helm just for us or we wont stock your game"?

It's obvious that EA wanted to offer different exclusive items to different stores to prevent sales from being biased towards one retailer who might offer lower prices. In an effort to combat it, they've given the consumer a choice of where to buy the game, based on which items they want and how much they value them. this way it stops one retailer from knocking 25% off their RRP and getting 90% of the sales, leaving the rest in the dark.

It's quite shrewd, actually... although i've not compared the US version to UK version to see if they're unbalanced as people are saying. Aside from that, it's quite a good move.

If it works, you could expect more in the future. Different retailers offer different in game bonuses, and you get to choose which retailer to buy from based on that.

I quite like it. I hope it was Bioware's idea rather than EA, cause I really don't want to publically admit that i like soemthing EA have done :(

Absolutly agree. Again we have people throwing their toys out of the pram. People should really be happy with what ever they get.

Be happy people! Its a bonus!

They could have done a lotto with every box, put in your keycode and get a couple of randomly generated goddies - Even then all the dimwits out there would be getting mad at not getting what they wanted, its those kinds of people that make designers can all the great ideas 'Because gamers all want what their mate has, or theyll not buy the game' boo hoo (lol, sounds like me when i was 5).

DampCat - The problem is that EA and GAME have done a dodgy deal for a nerfed version of the boxed CE and in order to keep GAME happy they have nerfed the DDE versions for the rest of the UK.

I've no issues with the free item promos, it's not a new concept at all and it works quite well in MMO's, but this has not been handled well and resulted in the UK getting a bad deal compared to the rest of the world.

The problem is however that if one store stocks an item that is more desirable, the grimoire for instance, then it throws out any chance of an even sale distribution

It would be quite interesting to know how these promotional items are handed out. Maybe EA tell Bioware to produce 4 or 5 items and retailers bid for them? Some places don't have any after all. Or maybe EA hand them out for free to their preferred retail partners to ensure decent site presence for their game, banner ads etc.

1st time ive done this, i have used the EA download manager to buy the deluxe version. When can i actually down load the game, would be a bit silly for everyone to do it on release day?

How do you do this? I think ive done it. I can view ny charactor bushmins, but i dont see a ring on him.

I imagne it gets bound to your Bioware account.
So when you login the first time and play that character it gets droped in your inventory automaticaly.

Well I got a £20 voucher for amazon in work today, so that's where my pre-order's coming from :D

I have no idea what it comes with, and I don't really care ;)
