Because they've adopted it into "American English" probably, so a number of Americans probably think it's an Englsih word. Then again, those same people probably think they speak "American" rather than "English". :p
 
Talking about language purity when referring to English makes me laugh. This language has single-handedly abducted and raped more languages than anything else humanity came up with to date...
 
Isn't douche a French word? To be honest, I'm not going to stop using one of my favourite casual insults because the Americans like it. You're not the kind of guy to stop liking a band just because they've become popular, are you? Also, the guy was being a douche.

It's a really terrible insult, honestly. Worse than the idea of resurrecting DNF when it should patently be consigned to myth and legend.
