The Emirates FA Cup 3rd Round ** Spoilers ** [10th - 14th January 2025]

This is just dreadful, painful to watch

The ref has been crap but it's a shame about Dalot being an idiot. Amorim can't seem to catch a break, every game we're getting these stupid individual errors.

Even if we lose this we can take consolation that it won't be Arsenal winning anything this season. From what I've seen recently they have regressed this season. You can't win a league with Havertz, Sterling, Jesus.

If we hadn't had gone down to ten men we could have easily won the game. I am happy with the overall performance though considering we are away against a "top" team.

I mean, we’ve been completely outplayed today. On the plus side Maguire has made a big differen On crosses and set pieces.

Arsenal have been better, i’ll give you that but I’m not sure about being completely outplayed. I think being completely outsmarted is better. It’s like Arsenal have thought, ‘no var’ this have a party and have been excellent at that side of it. Ref has been dire though.

I’m massively against VAR but if we’re going to get this as a result of them being use to the safety net of it, I guess it’s better the devil you know.

Then again there is this view via the beeb -

I’m at the Arsenal game and it’s a reminder that football is infinitely better without VAR. A goal is a goal, offside is offside, a penalty is a penalty. No painful delays, no diluted celebrations, both sets of fans hate the ref, both teams getting away with things. I’ve missed this.

I would love to see that guy's opinion if his team lose a final to a controversial goal that VAR would have chalked off.

Collyer has played quite well since he came on. Smart enough to win a free kick when he needs to. Gets about the pitch well and showed willingness to get forward. I'd have him as deputy for Ugarte and Mainoo ahead of Casemiro.

If Bayinder was a golfer he'd need to work on that snap hook off the tee.

Exactly, it's brought a sense of accountability and integrity into the game. The amount of crap that players and teams got away with in the past is a joke. I suppose if you enjoy watching your team trying to deceive the officials that I guess it's a negative.

To at least have the threat of the cameras being referred to makes the coaches and players play the game generally to the rules without trying to play on the edges of superfast instinctive and subjective decisions of the on field officials under a lot of pressure.
