Need a third choice keeper
We were short a backup keeper and they decided he was the best bet... yeah.

I always find it odd that Prem teams opt for such bad/ancient keepers as their 3rd choice. Why not give youth a spot?
If you want a laugh, youtube Butland in the Championship for Stoke. I was so shocked with CP signed him.
Any youth keeper that's good enough to be your 3rd choice is being wasted by being your 3rd choice. You're better off sending that kid on loan to gain some experience and having a 40 year old to put the cones out.

Not many go out on loan, you'd think 3rd choice youth would play PL2 and have match-day experience in the main squad + Caribou cup games etc.
Goal aside Antony isn't exactly looking like he offers much. Certainy not £80m more than Garnacho

I guess it depends on how good you want your 3rd choice to be. I'd want somebody who could play a PL game if push came to shove, without being terrified if the ball went near them. If you've got a sub 20 year old that's that good then I'd have them on loan. We're in that position with a young Brazilian keeper who is easily good enough to be our 3rd choice but he's gone out on loan to Macclesfield and we've kept Adrian around. Our situation is a bit unique in that this youngster spends half the week training with us and then goes to Macclesfield the other half and to play games but surely he's learning more playing pro football than playing u21 football and putting the cones out on matchdays.
