The end for my PC gaming?

In the same boat tbh

I have a small window of opportunity when kids go to be (which seems to be getting later & later)

Trouble is, I almost feel guilty if caught playing games at other times as unlike most hobbies, gaming still has a stigma attached to it.

I think if I were a train spotter or twitcher, my family would find it more acceptable:)

I blame Jeremy Kyle personally:D

Its got to the stage now where I draw satisfaction from just owning the game and knowing that at some time in the future, I may get time to play it.

I've had Mass Effect 2 for nearly a year without installing as just don't think i'll have the time to learn all the controls to even begin enjoying the game.

Having said that, just started playing Deus Ex Human Revolution and after nearly giving up in the bit before the opening credits, really starting to find the game quite immersive.

My golden rule with PC games is that I refuse to pay any more than a tenner, by which point the game is generally fully patched and my hardware is capable of playing it;)

Tbh, with the hardware in your sig your PC is capable of playing anything modern.

Ive had the same thing, wasnt really enjoying playing stuff :x

Gonna throw out a couple of random titles
orcs must die! , fps tower game, which is a ton of fun, try the demo.

defense grid, the controls are "interesting" to start with, but its so full of character and charm, pretty sure there is a demo of it too. you can also play it pretty much with just a mouse. :o

magicka is pretty fun, and difficult (is a demo i think)

the dawn of war 2 games are quite engrossing too

il2 1946 can be alota fun if you have a joystick

I think quite a few of the modern games have lacked that magic that keeps you interested, and i hate grind unlocks too, for multiplayer :\

I'm now struggling to even stick to any games without being bored in the first 5 minutes of playing them (single player bores me to death) and what now feels like the end of my "gaming career".

I really hope the likes of Planetside 2 or Guildwars 2 brings back the life of gaming to the PC for me, or I think I may just give it up all together.

Anyone else feel the same?

This bit really resonates with me. I used to enjoy single player games (rpgs & strategy) but I can no longer bring myself to play anything other than mmos. I downloaded skyrim, spent a few hours installing mods and tweaking the .ini to make it look like a pc game and then ... just couldn't see the point in playing it

I still enjoy mmos, though I've been looking for a year or so for one to really commit to (been playing wow and rift on and off). I'll be playing the upcoming releases, swtor, GW2, but if they don't manage to reinvigorate the genre, I fear I may have to force myself to stop and find a new indoor, wrist-action based hobby...

Since I was first introduced to my first PC - I loved the gaming.

I have several accounts to many games that I've played;

Ultima Online, CS/HL/TFC/TF2, Quake, UT, BF Series, CoD Series, Planetside, Warhammer, WoW, DCUO, Guildwars, Aion, Anachy Online, Tabula Rasa, APB, OFP - and many more I can't think off hand.

Many of these were great games at their times and some still are.

With the amount of good games released during the last couple of months I'm suprised you can't find something amongst them to hold your interest.
If you restrict yourself to playing just MMO's and online shooters then you are missing out on some of the best games ever made.

(single player bores me to death)

Well if this is the case, then imo you aren't really a true gamer and should probably just go off shopping with the missus or something instead.

Why do you always have to have the attention of other people when gaming? Surely the total escapism of a single player game, where you are totally alone in a virtual world ( just you and the game ) with no external interference from other people, is one of the main attractions for many gamers and is one of the assumptions developers have used to imagine and ultimately create games on over the years.

Also try Minecraft and join the OCUK server, yea it can be boring mining all the time, but you also get self satisfaction from saying to the missus "look at what I have built - a monument shaped like your boobs!".
Seriously, I have built my own funparks with water slides and rollercoaster carts, getting enjoyment when you see other players having fun too.
Also, the official server has just had a clean wipe, so everyone are getting into that "Oh crap!" survival mode and helping each other out with their buildings and resource hunting.

Despite being an avid PC gamer since the late 80's, over time the number of games that interest me has dwindled and I find fewer and fewer interesting.

For short bursts I like SC2 vs the AI (multiplayer stresses me out). For longer play sessions I like MMO's or Civ V.

Im hoping Diablo 3 will be a game that will be great for short & fun play sessions.

The one advantage PC gaming has is the P2P (pay to play) aspect. Just look at EA cashing in on SWOR, they know they can make potentially up to $50mil a month in subscriptions on top of game sales. I think in 5 years you'll see a lot more P2P mmo's and less FPS on PC.

I played a few hours of SWOR on Friday and for levels 1 - 8 i really really enjoyed. Ofc its stupidly early to judge this game, but we'll see.

Blizzard at some point are going to have to release WoW2 so there is still plenty to look forward to in pc gaming!

To me tho its all about the community you play in, even if the games are rubbish so long as I’ve got a good bunch of nutters to play with week in week out I don’t really care!

I was in this kind of mood recently, quit gaming, still bought games i wont play on steam though. After a month of being bored i just got back into playing again... i realised i had nothing else to do especially on evenings unless i wanted to watch xfactor....../puke

you one need a nice break and two go for something different

my saviour game was thehunter. totally unlike my usual stuff i played cods and so on and i really enjoy it.

a lot of gaming is about who you game with aswell

if i didnt game with the people i game with i wouldnt play as they are the main reason its fun
well i think thats a compliment ,you trolling dg lol

Completely fed up myself too.

Looked forward to BF3 for months but find it dull and well, just bad really.

All I'm playing it the moment is FIFA12 and Skyrim. Hopefully PS2 and CS:GO will be worth putting some effort into.

I felt the same, about PC gaming. Thought i would try getting back into RTS as i used to love it, took my attention up for a short while (a few months) then fell back into the same frame of mind. Started playing DoTa and then quickly onto HoN and im hooked!

Never been this interested in gaming again since when i used to play RTCW: Enemy Territory!

Its not just PC gamin it's console gaimg too, for me anyway. I only get bored of PC gaming when i have no exciting games to play, Luckily Skyrim and Prtal 2 have me occupied for the foreseeable.

I got bored with Fifa on my 360.

Its just natural. Either move to a new genre or take a break from gaimg. I took a break.

I thought I had come to the end of my PC gaming as I'm not prepared to upgrade my PC for BF3 or MW3 & have only played BF2 for the last 5 or so years. I bought a cheap 2nd hand PS3 & Black Ops instead, I liked it so much I traded my 2nd hand FAT PS3 in for a Slim 160 & BF3 & got MW via Asda Direct for 31 quid. I've not taken to BF3 but I've played untold hours of MW3 & have got my gaming buzz back.
Kicking back in my leather recliner & playing MW3 on my 40 HDTV with the sound coming out of my surround sound is Awesome.

And that poster who said Oldies grow up can **** off. :p
