The England Cricket Thread

This was a perfect pitch to win the toss on, but nevertheless a very well deserved by England. Disciplined bowling and tight fielding.

Johnson's stunning fightback put the entire top order to shame. Watson lbw with a wasted review as usual. If the selectors don't replace him with Marsh for the next test, I can only conclude he has incriminating photographs of their wives.

Can we at least get Watson a new bat? This one's not working too well:

I got Root to win SPOTY at 100/1, but only put a fiver on. Was after the NZ tests, only competition he has is Hamilton and even then he's done it with no real competition. Root is clearly evident he has everything to be a match winner and if they do a lot of the credit will go towards him with both bat AND ball.

As for the batting order and lineups I don't see it changing bar an injury or two. Root is comfortable at 5 and it works. With Cook he just needs to stick to his own game and not this expansive attacking stuff everyone else has been doing, it just doesn't suit him. Let him do his thing and it'll be fine.

Aussies are in trouble if Starc doesn't make it through. Shame that they'll probably drop Watto for Marsh, I was thoroughly enjoying Leg Before Watson/Don't Review, Shane

Wow, the first pitch that even Watson could score on, and he's not in the team! :p Warner must be feeling like a complete idiot right now.

I wouldn't call England's bowling toothless. Ali leaked worse than the Titanic. Anderson sprayed to the left and sprayed to the right in search of an invisible 6th stump. But apart from that it looked like pretty disciplined stuff. The pitch just isn't giving anything away.

I hope Clarke bats for as long as possible and doesn't get any silly ideas about declaring on 450.
