The EPIC but actually **** thread!!

To this day the only car I have ever been in that has been caught speeding was a Rover 100 1.1 back when I was 18. It was pretty similar to that advert. Green with gold painted wheel trims, Audi A4 avant spoiler stuck on the back and black hammerite across the bottom quarter of the car to cover up rust! We were all in the back getting a lift home from the clubs. Still can not fathom how a metro 5 up could even speed in the first place!

35 in a 30 downhill with a tailwind:D

My local Merc dealer has a smart car painted that colour all over. Apart from the blinding, migraine-inducing reflections you get off it, the only saving grace is that it hasn't been given the 'carbon treatment' like this thing.

How about this fantastic example of rice?

Fugly but serious BHP. What made me laugh was "no test pilots all testing will be done by me, need the cash"

You arrive to view a car and to be told sorry m8 no test drive possible. I do the test driving... You sit there m8 passenger seat and when it's all over I'll give you a rummage on the back seat and you give me the wonga m8

Always a difficult one letting someone else drive your car. Even if trying to sell it... when someone is obviously going to want to try the car. Long gone are the days of automatic "open" driving cover on insurance. Not many insurers even offer this these days (think AXA still does... as an option)). Only way I allow it, is if the buyer signs a letter saying that he is responsible for any any first/third party damage and has a valid full driving license (plastic part... so you can check the address) and also has valid fully comp insurance of their own (with a DOC clause). Fair enough most peoples insurance allows them to drive other cars, buts that's only third party. Though having said that.... DOC (driving Other Cars) third party cover is not even automatically available under some insurers fully comp policies these days!

PS. Can't be too careful selling a car privately. I've had some right loons turn up to view / try a car I'm trying to sell. Quite recently I had a lad turn up to look at a car I was looking to sell and when I explained the above about insurance etc. he got all belligerent. Not convinced he even had a valid UK driving license. Just a tyre kicker I suspect. Not the first time I've experienced this sort of thing either and it's not always the obvious ones that are the time wasters!

When I sold my e92 M3, I didn't allow the buyer to drive it. Far too many test pilots nowadays without the appropriate cover (and like you say most of the time it's third party).
