I just don't get this. If they are escaping the atrocities caused by the civil war, how come they are not more patient and give authorities and locals a break. Should be grateful for being in a safe country and getting all necessities for free. The same thing happened in Hungary, they didn't like having their fingerprints taken so they rioted and forced their way out of camp. Sickening.

Is it me or are all these "human rights activists" completely detached from reality?

With immigrants protesting/rioting behind her, she says "It's not their fault; local society is now against them."

It's like it's always our job to turn the other cheek. We've always got be friendly and welcoming. We've always got to meet them 75% of the way.

You guys seriously need to get away from your PC's for a while and get some fresh air, this thread seriously reads like the Stormfront Britain forum.

The same stories and youtube links are being posted over there. I appreciate this is GD but when you start to resemble Stormfront I think something has gone wrong

Storm front have a forum?

I don't think it is reasonable to call everyone who is concerned about mass immigration racist.

Just the same I don't think it is reasonable to say every Syrian Muslim is a terrorist.

Love the small minded flashing the "racist" and "xenophobe" argument around as if they think they have the moral high ground.

Newsflash, it doesn't automatically win the debate.

Actually that doesn't mean anything. I bet those Stormfront people watch the BBC and read the same newspapers we do...

The differences between us (if any, I've never been there) will be in how we respond to those videos.

And if we respond the same, well, I'm not sure that means what you think it means. It maybe that immigration is now a hot topic across the board, and is dividing opinion on along one of two lines... let them in or keep them out.

The truth is, many of us are being pushed toward extreme ends of the spectrum by the extreme nature of current events. I know my own opinion has become much more anti-EU in recent days. If we had a referendum tomorrow, I'd vote to leave, and I don't think I would ever said that before.

Stormfront don't speak for me and never will. What is interesting is we find extremism to be on the fringes left or right are allows the most vocal and is always delivered with more emotion than hard facts.

Germany and Sweden are the canary down the mine.

How long until alcohol and pork sausages are banned from Oktoberfest? When it happens, it will bring out the wurst in people.

have you seen some of the stuff in here? people genuinely terrified the country is going to become majority muslim within the next few years even though they are something like 10% of the country right now

someone even mentioned them implementing things like sharia law as soon as they get the numbers

The Syrians looked shell shocked or in a psychosis. They don't appear to be relaxed and even once they reach where ever they wanted to go they still look anxious and like they have not reached their destination. Maybe that's a result of the war or just that they are all very aggressive people looking for something that is not there.

Dont see it myself. Apart from getting in a crush when they were forcing their way onto trains in hungary they seem reasonably relaxed.

You may be mistaking a bored stare with genuine trauma. Take the demographics in those photos as you will.

Why do you wonder why people are wary of them currently? There's millions of them who would rather they were the only people on the planet and dedicate they lives to a highly prejudiced thousands of years old fairy story.

That sentence could literally be applied to either side of the argument at the moment....

I think what worries me the most, is that these migrants represent the complete breakdown of law and order in whatever country they've been in. European governments were powerless to control them - Hungary tried but were completely unable. One gets the sense that there is only law and order in Germany currently because the migrants are getting what they want.

A majority population isn't required to cause mayhem though. It just takes one bad apple to spoil a bunch, but in this case the bunch is in the millions. I dread to think the percentage of bad apples.

The people who have these concerns have valid reasons and I don't think they are as short-termist as you suggest. They are also thinking about what the country is going to be like in their later years, what kind of place it will be for their children growing up etc.

In contrast the people welcoming the migrants are visceral in their thoughts, reckless even. They want the instant gratification and to brag about their charitable acts. It's the flavour of the month at the moment, it's 'cool' to be altruistic providing it gets noticed. The reality is Germany found a quick fix to plug their ageing population and pounced on it, with the rest of Europe duped into following suit. The people in power are prioritising GDP over citizens' quality of life.

Could it? How many hyper religious neighbours do you have that think killing non believers, including those who actually believe in the same pixie story but with a slightly different understanding of the words gets them to heaven?
