The 'Everything Adobe Lightroom' Thread

Yeah, I would move to RAW only.

have you had the time and date set correctly on your camera from day one?

I'd move all your pictures to one folder then import to lightroom and get LT to move the images to a decent file structure.

I'd also be temped to remove all jpegs from the import so you're just dealing with RAW.

Then you should be good :)

Hope that helps.

How do I go about getting lr to move all the images into a decent file structure?

Am I allowed to ask where the cheapest place is to buy LR from? I found somewhere through google that sells it for around £172.
I also have a sister going to uni this year so thinking of trying to blag a copy through her. Thoughts?

I've been looking out to see if I can pick up a cheap copy of Lightroom 2 and then to buy the upgrade. £172 looks a good price from what I have seen. The student license only really applies if the user is a student, if you're living in the same house and "share" a computer though...

how do you do that? i can get select all then auto tone, but how do you do sharpness and lens correction for all the pics?

thanks

It's a LR3 feature, there is a button at the bottom left named sync or auto-sync.

I never use auto-sync now because I left it on by accident once and the final crop in a 200 set of images went through to all of them :o

Nice waste of time there :p

I've been using LR since v1. There is a huge amount you can do with it so much so that I rarely use PS now-and the best thing is everything you do in it is undestructive.

Not sure if any of you have come across Scott Kelby before but I'd recommend getting hold of his book on LR3. I've learnt so much from his previous book on LR 2 and bought the LR3 one via Amazon Kindle on my iPhone - not ideal but only cost ~£15 and it's always with me!! Download a free sample to give it a try?

The book covers everything from importing to printing.

Heres a great site for LR presets and tips on using LR
