The Evil Within

Its a bit worrying that theres not much pre launch info on this game. I've preordered it due to it being from besthesda and whos actually behind it (plus the type of game too!) I just hope I've not wasted my money!

By the way, greenmangaming have a 25% off voucher that works with this game for preorder, putting it to just over £26. It includes the preorder bonus stuff as well:

9I47I9-ZOM38L-ZGV9KW

Expires today though, so not much time to think about it!

I think its because its SP only & they are still tweaking the final game its not gone gold yet although they did say its going to need similar specs to Wolfenstein on the same game engine so mid to high end PC.

£14.99 Season pass details are a bit of a letdown though 3 content packs telling different stories why not include it all for the same price

That's easy :p

Although I have 86GB SSD space left. Gonna have to finish Dead Riing DLCs 3 stat to make space!
I still use a physical 2TB HD for games to save wearing out the SSD as no difference in access times as these games use large data files which SSD's do not give a noticeable speed boost to so it hurts the wear lifetime a bit.

I thought ssd are effected by write to the drive, than reading.
And loading games from ssd is leagues ahead from standard hard drive.
Bf4 is one hard drive it's around 1min ssd is around 25secs

They are you have to write those large data files to the SSD to get them on there ;)

SSD's are not noticeably faster if the game is like this one & has massive megatexture data files as SSD's are not optimised for that type of data.

If you look for like for like tests on large data files on SSD vs HD its been known for years there is no difference & if the data file is really large its acutally slower on the SSD due to the way most SSD's compress the data.

SSD's are faster for games with smaller files just not worth using on games like this one as it uses ID Tech 5 which is mainly large megatexture data files.

I will after look into this, so far I have noticed all games I play load faster. Any links? Against Samsung evo if possible.
The writing only happens the first time you install the game. That's not going to effect much of the drives life, it takes years of writing to reduce its life.

Wear lifetime may have affected older generation SSDs but modern drives have no problem at all. I've written circa a couple TB to and from this drive since it was installed and the health is still top with life expectancy at 2023.

Benchmark performance is still the same as day 1 also. It's had 20,100 hours of power on hours count

It depends on the game data file size try yourself by installing something like Wolfenstein 2014 on a HDD then SSD there is no noticeable real world difference if anything the SSD seems a little slower when its loading the megatextures.
