Seriously, what team in Europe spends what we do on wages without winning anything.
Liverpool spend 20-30mil less than us, and have still won trophies since that last time we have, Spurs spend WAY less and have won a trophy, Dortmund have won at least a couple leagues and spend IIRC something around what Spurs do(probably a lot more now), 143mil currently, out of all cups, looking like 4th will be very tough and I don't think we'll do it to be honest. I really hope that we have clauses for lower wages without the CL but outside of more recent contracts(maybe not even then) I'm not sure we do. All cups have a certain amount of luck but, the top 4 consistently get to late stages and get into a final for one cup or another every 3 years which is exactly what Arsenal used to do. The one final we got to we lost to ruddy Brum of all people, and in that situation is was hilariously because Wenger that one time, of all times refused to rest Cesc for a game with the thugs that are Stoke, so he missed the final..... its like there is a clear and obvious choice in every situation and Wenger automatically goes with the retarded option no one else would.
Stoke with a cup final the next game, that is when you rest players for a final you have every chance of winning. Blackburn in the cup with next game Bayern that you have basically no chance of winning... that is when you make sure of the Blackburn win then at Bayern whatever happens, happens, and you are still in one cup. In both situations the choice was 100% clear, and he went 100% wrong in each case.
EDIT;- its worth noting that Cesc was had an injury problem all year long so should have been protected even more than a normal player, and Arsenal were comfortably in 2nd in the league so the Stoke points weren't make or break the season at all, and the loss ruined the rest of the season as we utterly collapsed after that winning only 2 of 11 games. THe biggest game of the decade for Arsenal and Wenger made the most ridiculous choice in history to not rest Cesc and other key players.
On another note without a real league thread, in league one 4 points covers the top 7 teams, the top four teams are within one pointof each other... ridiculously tight in league one. Brentford currently on the tail end of that but with a game in hand.
